Relay Attack with Massive Antenna - Criminals Steal BMW M2 Competition with Relay Attack in 56 Seconds! Parked next to the BMW M2 Competition is a Tesla 3 which was not targeted.

On the 8th of February 2022, so called "relay attack thieves" “keyless theft” or better known as car criminals struck again in Saarland Germany. This time the crooks were able to steal a BMW M2 Competition in Wadgassen and it only took a few minutes.

This problem could be solved so easy, by just establishing a 2nd factor authentication, such as a PIN code, or another biometric sensor (face recognition, fingerprint). The manufacturers obviously didn’t see a need to react regarding this vulnerability 🤷🏼‍♂️

That’s why I put my keys in a special key holder that blocks RF when I’m at home. By blocking the signal, it can’t be intercepted like this case. Still a good thief will steal your car regardless

I started adding kill switches to my vehicles a long time ago. Never thought it would protect the vehicle from newer technology hacks. Short of putting the vehicle on a flatbed its not going anywhere. Installed a few for friends as well. Normally set it up to "kill" the fuel pump.

I lost my BMW X3M last year.. I wasn’t aware of this relay attack thing. Two black guys came and took my car within 4 minutes. Now I’ve bought another one and one black guy keeps lurking around with his backpack. He saw my car and tried to break into our house with ski mask on. When the police arrived he flew away. I see him everyday he thinks I can’t recognize him but I know he’s the one.. I’m so helpless because I can’t slap him..
