Are permits need to install these? I plan on pay someone to do the refrigerant line and of course hook up the electrical, but do you need a permit to actually mount the AC?

My upstairs room will not stay cool with our central unit (it’s separate from downstairs) is this something that could do the job? We have had our system checked every spring/summer and nobody can figure out what the problem is. Desperate to find a solution!

I have a question for you. I know the humidity is drained outside through a drain tube. Is there water that needs to drain in the winter?? What keeps it from freezing?

I might buy and install one just for my garage, but of the whole house!?!?!?!?
I had a 4 ton unit and all new duct work installed after hurricane katrina and it was only 6k total!
