Ethan and Kat Pippitt are the proud owners of Standing Stone Kennels. They breed German Shorthaired pointers and train all types of dogs for the hunt and the home. That bit at about 8:50, where Legend pulls way back and you give, and then talk us through what you did, is golden. The techniques are simple. Timing and sensitivity are what make a good trainer. Well done.

I really enjoy seeing you work through this with a dog that hasn't done it before, and seeing him struggle a little bit here. So many training videos on youtube show "training" on a dog that has something down pat and really do nothing for us rookies with dogs that need this type of training. On average, how many days/weeks are you using toe hitch with your dogs?

Thank`s for the video. The most important thing for retrieving is, how do yout teach every dog not to make to much pressure, to bring always alive and not with broken bones?

There is another way to teach this with softer dogs. It's hard to teach old dog trainers new tricks though.
