Excellent! I like that you are SILENT instead of background noise of "Hold, Hold, Hold, Hold, Hold". Silence allows the dog to figure out that not chomping results in release and praise. Background noise of "Hold, Hold, Hold, Hold, Hold" may teach pup to ignore the command or interpret "hold" as allowing chomping. Silence is often a better approach in retriever training!

You guys are soooo great!!! I really love watching your videos. It’s such a fantastic help.
You and your videos are totally different to all other videos on you tube. And the best ist, I can really learn a lot. Thank you so much for that!!!!

In the second video, are you using your fingers to open his mouth and placing that retrieving buck, or is he taking it from you willingly? It happens too fast to see in the video. It seems like there must be an intermediate step in which he learns to open his mouth and take it.

A cool video would be to tour your kennel.

YAWA: I have a 5-month old that loves retrieving but he has started to drop the retrieve before handing it to me. When doing this trained retrieve work, he's doing anything to avoid having to hold. He will lay down, chew on the object, spit it out, not close his mouth, whatever he can think of... What to do? Should I wait with more formal work? I've tried several sessions like this one, but no progression.

What do you do, or how do you correct, if the dog is rolling his tongue or trying to push your hand out with his tongue, or chomping?

How old are the dogs you are working with at this point. I have an 16 week Choclate Lab female. I have been watching all your videos since we brought her home in August 2020. All have been helpful so far. Right now she is super hyper and likes to play bit and chew on tons of things. Trying to break that habbit right now. Would like to work on Trained retrieving with her next.

In the yard right now she will bring a ball on rope back to us when we throw it out to her. But does not drop it right away.

Would like to make her more confident with retrieving and releasing with us.

Anyone know how old Legend is in this Video? I have a 6 month old GSP - just absolutey loaded with energy but does not like to retrieve or play fetch... he gets distracted very easily. Would like to add this style training to our daily routine.

What was the emphasis on pushing back when you had your fingers in his mouth? I notice you do this as well from your IG feed on the last seminar you did.

I have a 6-7 month old GSP. He is not wanting to retrieve the bumper I throw. Occasionally he will low energy walk to it but usually will not even pick it up. What should I do?

I have a 2 year old that will do a passable job retrieving birds most of the time. How can I get more than passable? His retrieving is basically natural. He loves to ply in the yard with a bumper but he hates to turn loose of it

It is also better to teach the dog markers first so you can mark and reward the behavior when they perform it correctly

Can we petition to make Ethan grow back the handle bar for no shave November?

This videos would be so much more worth if you used a dog that was more distracted..
Legend is simply way more cooperative then most dogs

At this stage, every time in mouth = Fetch. Will pick up dropped things with Fetch.
