Creation to Consummation (CTC) is back and this year on the topic of Obedience. Here we have Dr Bradley G. Green from Union University to give us a quick peek at why this topic matters to us and how it is vital to our lives.

Well hi, this is Brad Green, and I teach theology in Union University, Jackson, Tennessee. I am very excited to be headed to Malaysia this summer in July for the Creation to Consummation Conference. I look forward to be with you all. A bit of myself, I teach theology, I have taught a course called biblical theology for about 20 years, out of that course came a book, called Covenant and Commandment: Works, Obedience, and Faithfulness in a Christian Life. And this summer when I’m in Malaysia at the conference, we will be looking at the importance of works and obedience in a Christian life, and how one can affirm classic wonderful protestant theology of justification by faith alone apart from works, and also affirm that our obedience to the Lord matters in a Christian life. And really it is not an option, it is something that flows through true saving faith.

But let’s back up, so we’ve to speak about biblical theology, what do we speak about? Well in short, we are trying to look at the whole bible as one big story and make sense of the big picture, the bible and in it, the particular stories, and make sense of the particulars and the details in light of the big story. And this summer while I’m in Malaysia, we will be doing that with relationship to the importance of works and obedience and and the Christian life. Umm, how does this affect your life? Well, many of us would say “yes, I have trusted Christ and I love Christ and I believe in Christ and I’m saved by grace alone”, but then we sometimes wrestle with “why, why do works matter then?”. And while I hopefully show across really several days being in Malaysia how you could trust in Christ alone for salvation and affirm how works and obedience matter in your life. I hope you’re there, I hope you’ll come, I think this conference will be great whether you’re a pastor, a layperson, whether you volunteer at church, whether you’re a Christian just interested in understanding the bible more, we would love to have you at the conference.
