💬 In this video I'll help you go from your Maya (or other dcc package) to lender via alembic, then with just basic commands be able to light and render your shot so you can present it to the world in all its glory.

🔴 DISCLAIMER: it's meant for you to learn a bit of blender without much background on it but I highly recommend to check out Blender's official "blender's first steps" to learn how to move around with more ease:

Let me know if you think if I should get rid of my beard or just clean it up a bit ... what a mess.

Thanks for this great tutorial! I have been eyeing Eevee for 6 or 7 months now, and decided to jump into it! I will use it to render the anim from Maya!

Thankyou so much for taking your time to explain so much for presenting a shot. Everything was very well explained. I just followed you step, which help me open more room to explore stuff while rendering my shot:)

One other thing of note is that blender will do some color management by default, so if you want an unaltered picture you should change that from filmic to standard, although for most renders like this it's probably not necessary.

17:23 not having an image view editor during render can save one or two seconds per frame. With cycles this is not that noticeable because cycles are minutes per frame, but rendering with eevee it makes a huge difference cutting render times in half or even more.

god bless Alembic for making workspace transfer so easy!

nice one. I could see a lot of the transfer process being a bit slow, but once you are in Blender, it could take someone else to tell me to stop playing with the lighting and texturing.

Awesome! Could you also record how to render with textures from the rig and with PBR? Thanks!

i think if you set the film resolution gate of the camera in maya to "overscan" it might match to blender better

Hey! Very cool video! :),
Just in case it's work, for your camera framing, check in maya your "Camera Aperture (mm)" in film back tab and if you are same value in blender inside your camera properties>camera tab> sensor Fit (choose horizontal)> and you can see if it's match
I'm not sure if it's that but you can try :)
