Hey Tim! Another great video!
Just wanted to add a tip. For people who need remote access to the Plex server, you need to set the "Use Host's Network Namespace" to true in the container's Networking options

Great Video!

For anyone having trouble with Rancher2 like I was, the flags need to be

PLEX_UID
GROUP_UID

instead of PUID and PGID

Very well explained, much better than most tutorials out there having to do with installing and configuring Plex on Linux through a Docker Container. Thank you!

I like the topics that you make videos about (homelabbing, Docker, Plex etc.), and I really like your teaching style. I just subscribed, keep up the good work :)

Hi Tim, I know I am year late to the party but learning is a continuous path and seeing your video will help me avoid going down the route of virtualizing plex in a VM on Proxmox. So.. Thank you for your hardwork and sharing the knowledge. With your examples, I shall learn Rancher and Docker too all in one clear working guide. A BIG THANK YOU!

How did I not know about this guy? Great, great stuff. I've been building my PVE server and trying to figure out how to get my Plex setup up on PVE and this (and his other videos) on the subjects are great.

Update: I was using plex just fine until i realized if I went to a plex client like on my TV or android device it wouldn't see the plex server. After many days of research and watching this video from start to end another 4 times I figured it out. In Rancher plex container (Edit), go to networking --> Use hosts's network Namespace (Yes) and DNS policy: clusterfirstwithhostnet.

Now my android client can see the server and movie content and I can finally uninstall plex on my desktop.

I can’t believe you have low amount of subs. You are like a YouTuber with infinite subs. Extremely grateful for you man! Keep going. 😊

Awesome video! I'm getting ready to build a new homelab running ProxMox and ZFS. I am going to have a TrueNAS VM for all my media, a Linux VM and a Windows VM. I was thinking I'd just install Plex on the Linux VM, but I like the idea of running it in a Docker container on the Linux VM instead.

this is way cool. i could not update my 9.3FreeNAS for some reason, so I created a Ububto VM and installed PLEX and mapped the volumes like you did. BUT NOW, I see that is a waste, because I just installed RANCHER and NEXTCLOUD and I will install PLEX with RANCHER and kill that dedicate-VM-PLEX! super Idea!
