I saved seed potatoes from last year and might have planted 5lbs of the little guys. I harvested about 40lbs, I’m happy with a x8 return!🥔🥔🥔

Since you are in a "cooler" state, can you replant and grow a second batch before winter?

We grew a variety called "Blackberry" to unexpected success. This variety was developed at MSU but we had to get seed potatoes online from NY. I highly recommend this variety.

Happy with my 3lb bags of degroot Adirondack Blue I grew past 2 years. Last year 40lbs harvest. This year 36. All I added this year was some organic granular fertilizer. Definitely going to add a lot of compost for next season.

I planted 12 Kennebek and 10 Red Pontiac in the ground and we had an amazing harvest. I will continue to plant them in the ground rather than in my raised bed. Those in thr bed got too much rain here in TN.

I haven't completed my harvest yet, but I planted unknown reds (got a 50lb bag last fall from a local farmer, and the ones that started sprouting this spring I planted. I also tried a new variety this year, Purple Viking, and they were really nice. When the rest of my plants were attracting potato bugs, the PV rarely had any. The plants were the strongest, healthiest of all my plants, and the potatoes were very good (I dug up a couple the other day for dinner). I highly recommend the Purple Viking potatoes. 2 thumbs up! 👍👍

We had a good yield in our small garden . 12 hills, reds, Yukon and a white( can't remember exactly) @ 50 to 70 lbs. I have 14 more hills in west branch area and those are a few weeks behind, so my early /late harvest is working perfect!! Thanks and good luck to all harvesting

If Yukon potatoes do so well for you, you should try German butter potatoes. They tend to outperform yukons.

I was pleasantly surprised with how many potatoes we got. Last year was a bust, but due to all the rain, I harvested a week ago, and was very happy with what we have. I'm hoping I will have almost enough till next year. I don't even have a big spot to plant them, since I live in the heart of the city, but I love how many I get, and how low maintenance they are.

Congrats. I should have done the same. Took a good vacation with the family and the potatoes were timed to be ready around the time we god back. Was pretty dry for a while up until we left. Then rained like crazy pretty much every day for all of July. Waited to long to get them out due to it being so wet. Lost half my harvest due to rot. 😢.

Oh well, lesson learned. Will be better next year.

I grew Kennebec & Red Pontiac as always here in central IN. The best crop in 32 yrs of gardening. Not sure which to credit, the bone meal added for 1st time or the weather, but I'm thrilled with my xl potatoes.

We have been planting the yukon golds for about 3 or 4 years now. They always do half way decent for us here in SE WI. Even last year when we had a drought, we still did ok with them.

Hello from Idaho! Glad to see our Russet represented :) We love them here! Whenever I grow potatoes in my garden, I do Russet and Yukon Gold for sure, then I throw in a third to try, but it's usually a red. I can always count on my Russets and Yukon Golds. Thanks for all of this info and for everything else you share with us :)
