The Spanish American War brought brought the U.S onto the global scale. It annexed multiple territories, but not one, Cuba. What if the Americans had annexed the island in this alternate timeline? Here is one scenario.

I think this would've been a little more interesting if the alternate history was that, instead, the US traded Cuba for the Philippines, leaving the latter in the same situation that Cuba was in the original timeline. Such an event would give the US less reason to interfere in the Far East, and could greatly change the dynamic between the US and an Imperial Japan that may not see a need to attack the US in World War II, if such a thing still occurs(butterflies and all that).

I am a Filipino so I question these:
1.What if the Philippines was never found by the Spanish?
2.What if Manuel L. Quezon agreed to the US?
3.What if the Philippines is a state?

I disagree with your suggestion about the US simply letting Cuba go. Sure decolonization was a thing, but so was the Cold War and America often alongside the colonial powers (most notably the French at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu during the First Indochina War) so they could keep their possessions, in order to prevent the spread of communism. That, alongside Cuba's strategic positioning in the Caribbean (being 90 miles from Florida as you pointed out several times) and the existence of Guantanamo Bay meant that it would remain in US hands throughout the Cold War. By the time that period of history ended, any movement for independence would have long since lost most of their steam, and Cuba would have remained a US possession into the present day with a similar status as Puerto Rico. That is if it already hasn't become a state (and Puerto Rico too, as a result) due to its closeness to the lower 48. Geopolitics, not morals, rules the day in Washington, especially at the height of the Cold War.

How about you do one of these on PR Independence or about the realization of Simon Bolivar's dream of uniting ALL of the Spanish-speaking Americas into ONE nation instead of the 19 they eventually became (well 18 and one commonwealth) Great vid!
