A "Day in the Life" with the Beatles. This time it's July 28th, 1968 and on this day the Beatles were working on the song "Good Night". A great historical perspective in this video as we can see John Lennon (the composer of the song), teaching the song to Ringo Starr (who was the vocalist on this recording). A great insight as to how the came to be. This educational video is important to students of Music, Fashion, and history in general as we can see how the Beatles dressed, their hairstyles at the time and a view of how they recorded this record, including the lighted joss stick that George Harrison is holding. How could one feel any despair when listening to such a beautiful voice? It’s so peaceful. It’s absolutely amazing.

I read years ago of Ringo stating he had a video/audio recording of Lennon telling how to sing the song.

As much as Ringo's voice is inseparably entwined with this song which is now over 55 years old, I can only imagine how it would have sounded with John or with Paul singing it. George Martin said that when Lennon introduced the song to the band by playing it on his acoustic guitar, his voice was magnificent. Too bad Lennon never tried an outtake. At least we can be thankful for the many hundreds of hours of outtakes that the Beatles and EMI kept.

I just hope that there's a way to listen to their music after I die

Jesus. The White Album was, for me, something from Heaven, Heaven, in that it was uplifting, unattainable...November 1968 and I knew it was and would be the best time of my nascent adolescent life, in love with a dream, more than Terri Miller, but that didn’t matter because it was Christmastime 1968. And In Buffalo, NY, it snowed.

I remember reading that John had made a guide tape for Ringo to help him learn the song. Is it really lost to the ages?

Is that Ringos best vocal track? Yes or Yes allowed as answers.😄

Paul: Hi, guys. I'm here.
John: Paul, I bring Yoko.
Paul: Bye, guys. I'm out.
John: Typical.
