For the past six years we've covered the topic of narcissism in-depth, especially with narcissism expert Dr. Ramani Durvasula, but we've never heard the narcissist's perspective.

"Self-aware" narcissist, @MentalHealness, shares what it's like living as a narcissist - how he thinks he developed narcissistic personality disorder, the moment that lead to his diagnosis and how therapy has helped him to develop more "cognitive" empathy.

At still Lee's not hiding it. I like how he's not even trying to say he's such a better person and he admits that he still gets supply from adressing it publicly.
I think Lee found a way to make his life work and he might be the one who breaks his family's cycle ?

A perfect marriage or relationship is an illusion; there's no universal playbook for making them work. What's effective for one couple may not apply to another. Nevertheless, I've come to understand that there's always a solution to be found. Half a decade ago, my wife and I faced such trials in our marriage that divorce seemed inevitable. Yet, through perseverance and determination, we navigated through the rough waters and emerged stronger, reunited, and more resilient.

The self aware narcissist is hard for me to understand. My narcissistic mother lives in an alternate universe and will stop at nothing to protect it. She went through a phase where she would communicate with bright light spirts that would basically tell her that she was special.

I’m so glad you finally interviewed Lee. Dr. Armani’s first video with you opened my understanding to the crazy I’d been living in for 18 years. Lee really helped me as well.

Every time someone mentions your dad and you get angry, your dad has control over you.

Damn… that’s me with my mother (mostly her but other people too, she’s a narc) I am trying to not become a bitter person but it is so hard…

I appreciate how Kyle pointed out that "a narcissist can change only if they want to change". This is true for everyone, whether they are narcissistic or not. Going into therapy with the idea that the therapist is going to change you won't serve you. You must not only acknowledge the problem but decide that it's up to you to do something about it.

Great video, A month ago, my five-year relationship came to an end. I really can't stop thinking about the love of my life, who made the decision to leave me. I've done everything in my power to win him back, but it's all in vain, and I can't imagine my life with anyone else. I genuinely miss him and just can't stop thinking about him, even though I've tried my hardest to stop thinking about him. I'm not sure why I'm saying this here.

I have to say this. Narcissistic people are capable of having that awareness and being mindful of their behaviors and how it effects people. But there needs to be an understanding here that he left out. Narcissistic people don't change for their wives. Narcissistic people don't change for their kids. You wanna know why they "change?" They "change" because they are now aware of how bad their behaviors make them look and sound to people. And Ramani is right. They are rubber bands. As soon as something doesn't go their way, the rubber band goes right back to where it was. This Narcissistic goes to therapy, which is a great thing. By all means, do the work. But all therapy does is make him presentable in a healthy way. In this video he's presentable because he learned those tools in therapy. But he cares about this platform and how he looks and sounds to people. This can really give people like me who grew up with 2 Narcissistic people in my life a sense of false hope. And Ramani is correct. It's a heartbreaking realty of MOURNING. MOURNING of the relationship I would've liked to have with my father. Mourning of the relationship i would like to have with my brother. And mourning of the relationship i would like to have with my sister. But my relationship with my father was and is non-existent. And I've come to terms that the relationship is have with my brother and sister will NEVER be what I would like for it to be because I know they're just not capable of certain things. My standards are low for them. I keep it basic and simple with them. In my circumstances with them, I have to. And at times I can't even have them over for my birthday because they trigger my CPTSD so much. This false hope to people like me who feel that sense of MOURNING can feel so hurtful and devasting.

Actually toxic masculinity was covered in an article by MS magazine back in the 1980s! The rise of toxic masculinity ( which have the same traits as male narcissists ) in the rap/ hip hop genre. There was a real backlash against feminism however and nobody seemed interested. Incredibly tragic considering all of the rap wars in the 90s....Ms magazine was found to be correct.

It's hard when we're analytical enough to be PUTSIDE of ourselves in the end and are ABLE to actually RECOGNIZE what's possibly or sometimes CLEARLY narcissism coming out of our own mouth...
I don't know if I am a true narcissist or still just borderline.
But my hat goes off to you, Lee.
Do not give up this effort.
I KNOW this is hard sometimes. You're doing AMAZINGLY. Thankyou. You've set an example for me.

H.G. Tudor on YouTube is a diagnosed narcissistic psychopath and he has done tons of interviews. He has compiled a lot of information about distinguishing true narcissists from just narcissiSTIC people, what we can expect from actual narcissists and how to deal with them, what ASPD is, etc. Please consider interviewing him next as well, his work and transparency is seriously needed.

I have been cnd victim, but I was able to leave before it got bad. I was dealing with toddler in man adult body. He got very critical about anything I said or did. In my mind he was potential friend. In his mind I was his potential romantic victim. I had to tell him a several things for him to just disappear. I knew I was in deep trouble once I said, I see us as being acquaintances and I said, you do not control what I say or do. Unfortunately, he frequents the same coffee shop. He now has flying monkeys, and they do not hide texting or calling him 6 feet away. I will continue to frequent the same places as I did before I met this delusional man. Nothing will stop me from doing what I enjoy

These diagnoses are nothing more than labels.
My impressions from talking to a therapist is that you won’t be diagnosed with narcissism if you believe you could be narcissistic.
And you won’t be diagnosed with ASPD unless you have a criminal background.
You won’t be diagnosed with BPD unless you have clear and explosive mood swings.

It seems very black and white. Realistically you could have a little bit of this and that.
Thus because you’re not an extreme textbook case, you won’t get the appropriate help.

My therapist gave me a diagnosis i disagreed with and told me she couldn’t help me.
The whole system is a waste of time and money.

This guy is not yet ready to edificate people.
He made more kids after he was diagnosed, saying his older kids are “just like him”(as a narcissist).
He just knows being a self aware narcissist would bring him money and the attention he wants.
But maybe a good enlightenment to the field how covert they can be, and how they’re good at make people trust.
