I love it! I ported my landline to this cellular. It's awesome I did not have to change my home number! $16 a month vs $53 (landline) a month....and does NOT depend on my modem.

I've had straight talk cell and home phone for years. I've been happy with all of it.

The issue with not having a po box is for 911 use. So they have an actual physical address.

You probably could, but consider the following.

1. You would need to disconnect any incoming line that goes to your home phone network from the phone company.

2. A phone company normally provides REN 5 power. This means it could power 5 basic phones (Do not require to be plugged in to the mains.) I do not know the rating of this unit, but I would only use one un-powered phone. Anything after that I would use powered phones (ones that plug into a power socket.)

The home address requirement is a legal requirement. Any U.S. based "Home Phone" service must have a physical address for 911 purposes. The lower cost per month is due to several factors. 1. you ONLY get phone service with this box. No texting, no web, and no data! 2. They figure that most people won't buy a 12-volt adapter, hook it up in their car, and use it on the road. Thus, verizon saves on the cost of switching your calls from tower to tower as you cross the country.

I think it is referring to E911 which is a service setup in 2003 to allow 911 to find people making 911 calls from a cell phone. If you enter your correct address in the setup then I do not think you would have a problem.

Yep E911 is a tricky little thing especially as all phones have it now I believe. From what I was told by a Sheriff years ago, when a 911 call is made from a phone, they can locate it to within 30 meters I think he said. So anonymous 911 calls no longer exist with 911 on cell phones.

Unfortunately I agree the quality is not the best. What I would like to see is Walmart sell a hybrid device between this and BasicTalk, so BasicTalk does the bulk of the calls over the internet, but the StraightTalk part can be used in a power or internet outage. It would have one number and about $10 a month.

I have had straight talk home phone box for the last 10 years never had a problem until they changed the box to update with chip and had a problem and since then sometimes when someone calls I get a loud beeping noise, I have called straight talk so many times and they tell me to call them again when it happens I do and they tell me the same thing everytime, their customer service has gotten so sorry but since I have been happy with the service for many years and my phone bill is about 16 dollars a month it is worth it. I have asked them many times to replace my box they said they would but not done it yet. Their customer service sucks.

I've have had straight talk landline for many years, at least six. Just this year I started to have some problems but nothing that can not be fixed. I am currently looking for another box and can not find one in all of the Walmart stores I've been to yet. The problem is, I can call from my phone but I can not receive any calls. I was told to purchase another box because it was probably getting ready to go out. My concern is< I want to keep my same number if I order one. Is that possible. The services are great, this is the first time I've had any problems

your monthly current plan costs is for basic service and do you have unlimited long distance and all the extras add the cost per mo. and you find it will pay for itself in a short period then you have better service at a cheaper cost .

Yes with a phone that has a display (like a wireless handset)

My husband has a bostin scientific heart monitoring system that runs through our phone, I have cable phone now.  Will it work with that? The monitor basically downloads to the company his results.

thanks - I did not realize there was a difference . It did say E911 but I thought that meant Emergency 911 .

thanks - that DOES make sense but I am pretty sure the website for the same verizon -issed box says that it will not know your exact 911 location and other posters have said that it redirected them to the next down towers when they called 911 - I live in a medium sized city and being older, this might be an issue in the future . Still quite interestested though as my bare bones phone service from Verizon keeps climbing as does every other utility . BTW, are you in the US ?

I have 7 phones in my house can I hook them all up to this unit like a extension part line?

Hi again. When you set it up it asks for your address. Most services like this then route a 911 call to the nearest dispatch if called. I am not saying this one does as I did not test it, but it would seem logical for it to do so.

If they have a standard RJ11 phone jack yes.
