70% of ev sales are business tax offsets.

Overpriced, no charging infrastructure. Overpriced charging costs. Massive depreciation, can't trade them in. Endless hours spent sitting at chargers. Too slow to charge & too short a range once you decide to use heating, AC or drive on a motorway. Avoid, avoid, avoid

Newstalk should change their name to RTE 3

Anything with Batteries wreck my head. So I don't want the stress of an Electric Car. I'll stick with my diesel

Anyone who buys an Ev for the environment hasn't a clue what it takes to make the batteries and require power plants to charge and the batteries can't be recycled.

- High purchase price
- Unrepairable
- Lack of chargers
- Charging time of hours vs 3 minutes of refueling
- Battery degradation
- Unsellable

Only an idiot would fall for the EV meme.

My 20 year old petrol car works fine 170, 000 km on the clock, why should I get myself into debt for an electric car ???

These people don't live in the real world. I have several cars, all older than 9 years and I expect them to last 20 years at the minimum.

Ireland is not the problem with global warming. We are a drop in the ocean compared to India China global companies military emissions, the list is endless. So people don't want to be forced to buy expensive evs because of other countries emissions!

I think part of the problem is that a lot of people can't afford to buy a house, so they are not going to have the disposable income/savings to spend on new or used electric cars and if they are renting an apartment they might not have the EV charging facilities

I'm the proud new owner of 2006 VW diesel 2.5, had the engine rebuilt and vehicl restoration, overall cost less than €5k.

EV market share is “ worrying “, why exactly? If people don’t want them then they need to drastically cut production of these difficult to live with, over priced, rapidly depreciating vehicles which make no appreciable difference to the environment.

Nobody will buy a second hand EV they have no resale value.

New cars are too expensive. Some new car's have gone up 23% since 2019.
And no way to an EV car

Imagine spending 50k on a new Tesla and weeks later they cut them by 5k.. Certain car reviewers overlook all the cons here, and there are many.. Don’t be a mug, don’t buy an ev.

I know a person, who 2 years ago bought a Mercedes, she give 75 thousand for it, about two weeks ago she went to trade it, and the dealer was only given her 40 thousand, there you go,

1 Govt subsidy gone
2 50% depreciation in 3 years
3 still no sign of rapid recharging facilities

And yes I did buy one !
