ALCO locomotives in HD

The Delaware-Lackawanna SPG is seen here bringing in grain and hauling empty propane tankers. The four Century series locomotives have that characteristic smoke when throttled up as they fight the steep grade on the Pocono Mainline in Pocono Summit so that grain can be brought to the mill.

I wonder what a modern GE would sound like if it had an Alco shaped exhaust.

Sure, put on the headphones and bring up the volume. My first DVD, Alcos Over the Pocono Mainline - Volume 1, has a set of six Alcos pulling a heavier load up that same grade. I call that segment "Thunder on the Mountain", it was loud, especially as it passed under the 940 bridge.

Nice, 3642 sounds really throaty, I'd like to hear it in top notch.

I can still picture these painted black with the "mating worms" on the nose.
