You say the main reason he was scared was because of his memories as Anakin and returning to planets he's familiar with causes him to potentially die from anger. Sand played a huge role as he was horrified of it. He never experienced water, green grass, clear skies, like on Naboo. nothing. Just sand for miles and miles.

I think he was more afraid because he thought Anakin would "show up" and overpower and subdue him.
