Found a Small Gray Budgie (and it’s adorable)

Finally, after years of searching, I found the budgie I was looking for! He has an almost black face and anthracite coloring, but he is actually a beautiful gray budgie. However, he is wild and untamed. Here we go again with the budgie cage setup and day-to-day taming.

Here are the steps:

FIND A BUDGIE YOU WANT
TAME AND BOND WITH THE BIRD
...you get very attached, and the bird gets annoyed

Thank you Budgerigar Nation! 🏅

I love the videos when you are the one who is talking. I have always had birds. My health will not allow me to have birds. I am happy that I found your channel. ❤

I have a rainbow budgie! She's gorgeous but I don't know if her coloring will be more grey or blue-grey color when she's grown. Her yellows are becoming a really bright yellow. She's 7 mos. old now. Your love of birds is obvious, that's why I like watching you.

Hey Alen! This will help me a lot because I got two new birds today! I got a purple one and a white one with blue spots and black stripes. They’re still young, but they can fly surprisingly well! Thank you for this, it will really help!

I named my gray female Fancy Byrd. Your videos have been a great help in understanding her quirks.

Mine is named Hootie, my long time favorite that I had was named Dutch. He looked identical to Cookie by the way.

I'm a breeder of a variety of birds, and I've been training birds for years. I have a very different approach than seen on this video that takes a lot less time. I've had wild birds that wanted nothing to do with me going from hand to hand sometimes in less than 15 minutes on the first day of training. I pick them up with a towel or glove to keep from getting bit. I sometimes I
just pick them up with my bare hands. This I wouldn't recommend unless you are experienced with avoiding them bitting you. Birds that are somewhat tame, young, or more laid back may be willing to step on a perch but not your hand until they trust you a little more.
I usually clip the wings of birds in training just enough to slow them down a little without taking their flying ability away. I often use my bathroom as the best place for training since it's the smallest room in the house. I pick them up over and over until they settle down, and then I talk to them, kiss them, and pet them . Once they trust me, I get them to go from finger to finger . I find that if I repeat this process day after day for about 10 mins at a time, I have a tame bird in less than a week. It may take longer with older birds. Younger birds are almost always easier to tame.

I never knew grey budgies were rare, few years ago for my birthday I got an anthracite one for $30 along with a blue sibling, but only because the breeder didn't have others 😅
