On Getting Older

Shorty "podcast" style for you today. This is in response to a comment I had a few days ago asking me to talk about growing into adulthood, changing social circles, and death.

DAY 33 of daily videos! :)

(we're really starting to push the genre here... I promise, I'll get back to visual as soon as physically able)

I got hit by a car at 28, which led to the weakest/frailest I've ever been and almost a full year of being largely bedridden. It lit a fire under me to prioritize fitness as my no. 1 thing. Now at 32 I am the fittest, strongest, and feel the best. Being 30 doesn't mean an inevitable decline to decreptitude!

Your a youngster!! I’m 57 years old and it gets worse, sorry! My arthritis and menopause not easy and painful. Lack of sleep being with aches and pains. I still work out of the home. Raising a granddaughter and 4 dogs. I’m glad I have a husband who helps especially around the house which I purchased when I was single.

I am a young 60 year old but experienced major life changes within a week. My precious mom died, my partner was diagnosed with cancer and close family member is dying of cancer. I only say this because I wish we did things differently. My husband and I always worked a lot and put family first but not us. Our future is uncertain and I encourage young people to live your life to the fullest. You never know what life is going to throw you .

Really relate to the fact that I had to travel more to appreciate what I had and where I live. It also made me think of why, and part of it for me was when I travel I was checking out so many new things, while at home I settled into my favorites and my routine. So I always try to check out something new near by and I have discovered so many hidden gems over the years that were hiding in plain sight right near me!

"I have no problem with leaving a social situation that I'm not enjoying" YES YES YES!! This also can include family gatherings. ( Something I had to learn and continue to remind myself ) "If the worst alternative is to spend free time alone, until I find the right group of people. I'm willing take my time and do that rather than just dive in with people who are not a great fit " THIS!!! I could not agree more! The right group of people are out there!!

Thank you so much for continuing to post - even when unwell. I agree with other commentators that you have a very calm, soothing voice! I love your ironic take on life. Hope your back is on its way to recovery soon.

Not a bad idea to start a podcast 😃

I normally don't like podcasts, but just watching the black screen has been somehow relaxing... consider maybe doing this format again here and there, hearing about your philosophy and experience on life is always interesting (:

To me, death is not the end, which is why I am not scared of it (the process of dying can be scary still and I value my life and I hope it will be long of course, so I can experience as much from creation as possibile) and I am not sure If could say to everyone casually, that death is just "the end of all suffering"...cause some people can take this the wrong way...especially people who suffer alot and want to give up. It must sound alluring. I know someone who gave up. Life isnt pointless or without value and suffering isnt something random in a senseless life, something we should just skip over and end it cause "nothing matters" (I know thats not what you said..Iam just saying). But thats just my POV.

That’s the most valuable 3minutes 45seconds I’ve spent. Thanks for the last part—that’s the answer I’m looking for: to live is to have adventures!
