Genetic testing has completed and I have my results from BOTH kits to share! Links to order Ancestry DNA and 23 & Me:

Please note, I did not dive very far into the living relatives portion, as I do not want to show names of people who did not agree to be in this video.

If you decide to purchase a kit, I would appreciate it if you used one of my referral links! :)

I want to clarify for the array of people complaining that I called my DNA profile "boring." My father, aunt, and cousins have taken these tests as well, and they had a much more diverse set of results. What I found "boring"/surprising is that my father was only like 17% from the UK, with notable percentages coming from extremely different nationalities. Mine was like "well, all the interesting parts skipped right over me!"

It's me, your 6th great grandfather.

Everybody claims to be Native American and very few actually are.

why are most americans convinced they are some percent native american and defend the fact that they are ..even if they have no resemblance to a native american

Ireland, Scotland and Wales is different because the people are mostly of Celtic ancestry whereas people from England are more likely to have Anglo Saxon ancestry.

0.2% Cherokee? Are you related to Elizabeth Warren?

I wanted to comment on the “my aunt is my cousin” comment you made. I took a 23andme a year ago. For my mothers birthday I bought her a 23andme kit. Recently I received a message from a dna relative on 23andme that showed we were first cousins. She had never heard of me and wanted to find out more. Since my mother was on here ... she opened up her sharing and it linked this possible first cousin to my mother as a half sister. They did some digging and found out they are half sisters and that is why I am showing as a cousin and not a niece. Just a thought on why this might say your aunt is your cousin. Hope you enjoy learning about your genetic make up and family tree. 😊

YOU'RE RELATED TO A HATFIELD! In the 1800s there was a feud between two families, Hatfield's and McCoy's. It shows that you were related to a Hatfield in Eastern Kentucky and that's where it took place!

Wait, did that thing just show that you are descended from Ben Franklin and you said you "have no idea who any of these people are"?

My Aunt showed up as a 1st cousin.... Turns out she's my half-Aunt and that she and my mother don't share a biological father... You might want to look into that, Full Aunts should come up in the Close Family category.

Just an FYI. When they refer to your ring finger being longer they are referring to it being longer than your pointer finger. 99 percent of people's middle finger is gonna be longer...lol

My ex had the Ancestry DNA done and found a half-sister. He had never known his father but he knew there should be other siblings. Funny thing is he saw pics of his father for the first time and he is the spitting image of the man who died of a heart attack many years ago. Sometimes this works.

I did both Ancestry and 23andMe and mine were different as well. It makes you wonder which one is more accurate.

The discrepancies between the Iberian numbers probably comes from your irish/scottish ancestors. North West Spain (Galicia), the western coast of France and Ireland, were colonized by the Gaelic people. So they all share common ancestors. Because they are closely related, it might throw off the numbers depending on what markers each company is looking for.

"none of these people I've ever heard of" - well, that's kinda the point. You don't take a DNA test so it tells you your Daddys name and that he was born in Wisconsin.

So after 2 years of few hits on Ancestry, this past weekend I was surprised by 142 new dna matches! Lots of Facebook cross reference and some inbox messaging on ancestry later I found my half sister in Belgium ! As well as a half brother, several cousins only 2 hours north of me in NY, and the truth about a whole lot of things. Don't take your initial results as solid, give it time . The more people that do the dna test the larger the database becomes and more matches follow

Very useful comparison. Though everyone has a longer middle finger... that entry meant your ring finger is longer than your index finger.
