Which DNA Test should you take in 2021? I compare Ancestry DNA and 23 and Me to help you decide which test is right for you. I breakdown the differences in prices, results, services and user experience. I also explain my own search for my late father’s biological family after learning we have some Jewish Heritage. I compare my DNA results with my mother and father’s results.

Keep watching at the end for a preview of the documentary series I am working on about the search for my father’s biological family. I’m calling it “GRIMEY.”

I’m adopted and found my bio dad thru AncestryDNA using both genealogy and DNA matching. Through DNA cousins I was able to tie two branches together to narrow my search to two men. A first cousin and Uncle tested which proved the other guy was my dad. I’ve tested on all the sites.

Love your video.. I did the 23andme just for fun and then decided to get one for my dad. Huge mistake... results!! He is not my dad. He doesn't know it yet, I'm dying. Couldn't find any close match, so I ordered a kit from Ancestry. Wish me luck 🙏😔

I did both Ancestry and 23&Me. I found people on one that are not on the other!

I'm Latina so I'm looking for a test that can give me more exact information on my indigenous roots. I don't want a test that tells me I'm from South America, I already know that, but it'd be awesome if I knew what ethnicity from there I got DNA from. I'm sure it's really hard because these kits aren't cheap and I doubt many indigenous people would take these tests, so their gene pool for it will be very very limited. However, I think that maybe with time they'll have bigger databases from more diverse backgrounds and then I will be able to find what I'm looking for.

I want to do these DNA test however they don’t seem to be accurate and my perfectionism isn’t comfortable with that :( I might still try though

I'm adopted, and even though it's kind of overwhelming to see that I can really figure out my history, it's so interesting and helpful.

I took a Ancestry test to see if my father was really the person I was told was my father. When I took the test I was surprised and so was my mother. She then admitted she was raped and I also found a half brother that was also looking for his parents. He was surprised to have found me and also he knew he was given for adoption because his mother was also raped. I believe that I have found my father but is deceased. I was able to contact one of his sons and he was willing to pass the Ancestry test. He is waiting for the result which is said that he will receive pretty soon.

Great video. Did an AncestryDNA test and found out my brother wasn’t from my Father, nevertheless he’s still my brother, he already knew for some time. You can get addicted doing these dna test lol.

I’ve done Ancestry and now I’ve ordered 23&Me, I have really severe health issues and I wanted to learn more about my family initially but now I would also like to know more about my health as well.

My dad was also adopted. His bio mom had ran around and got pregnant. Never knew bio fam. He too became a pastor. I have two older sisters. He was diagnosed with ALS and dementia. Lost him in November of this year. Your story is pretty similar. Going to see what my test says, maybe something cool. Love your story. Thanks for sharing.

Just ordered my 23andme kit. I’m excited to get mine. I’m interested in the health portion because my family has some rare health problems.

My DNA seems to be a better match on Ancestry. But to be fair, 23andme focuses more on health markers, so they both have benefits.

I got my 23andme results back. I have 11.2% Ashkenazi ancestry
. I knew I had some Jewish Ancestry from my Grandfather on my mom's side.

If I knew 23andme took 3 months to cansle my test and then send a new in 2 days. Funny it takes two months to ship the test from Scandinavia to Holland and when it araves in Holand it would be safe. 3 weeks later it disapeard between Holland and the US. And it was 23andme who was to blame. So now before I get the result I have to spend ½ a year if they don't loos it atain ot it will not pass QC. Then it will be one year. DON'T EVER BY A 23andme TEST

I have taken two test Ancestry and 23andme. While both offer some good things, I would say Ancestry wins. Some of the reasons this video points out but also with Ancestry, they have a feature called Thrulines which can help you to determine connections up to 5th great grand parents and people who share the common ancestors... if they have done a DNA test and providing that family trees are correct. I find that 90% or more of the time, it has been correct. Sometimes the relationships are off with a distant cousin and sometimes totally off. but again it's mostly correct from my investigation. Ancestry is great for genealogy whereas if you just want to see your ethnicity and health report than 23andme is fine. Also, I find Ancestry people are generally more hardcore into genealogy so they are way more likely to respond. The only thing that I don't like about Ancestry is that their subscriptions are way to expensive; if they were half expensive, I would buy one.

I'm from Nazareth. Went to school with some Werkheisers. Work with one. Sorry about your Dad. I met him a few times. He got his reward. God bless.
