Living With A Pet WOLFDOG | Wolf Hybrid - Should You Get One?

Показать описание
Is a wolf-dog hybrid a dog breed anyone can own? This and more on what living with a pet wolfdog is like, the good, the bad, the challenges, and the specifics of this type of dog.

Tom owns a wolfdog hybrid name, Kane. Kane is a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. The Czechoslovak Wolfdog is a wolf-dog breed that began as an experiment conducted in Czechoslovakia in 1955. This wolf hybrid is a mix between a Carpathian wolf and a German Shepherd.

The Czechoslovak Wolfdog is lively, very active, capable of endurance, fearless, and as Tom says very loyal and gets attached to its first owner. This is a dog that doesn't like to be left alone at home.

Hello from Montana USA. As a former owner of this amazing breed I can attest to the accuracy of your video. This is not a dog for everyone. We live on a farm and we rescued two of these dogs in the past - though one may have been a Tamaskan as we never DNA confirmed. The other rescue was 100% Czech Wolfdog. He passed away in October and I am still heart broken. These dogs are extremely loyal and their attachment to their human is unparalleled. And if you are considering getting one, you better be active. This is not a couch potato dog. Too, if you do not work in a situation where you can be with your dog all the time, then do not own one. They can be very destructive. And they are escape artists. Thank you for sharing your video. I plan on getting another Czech Vlcak but in the USA they are very rare and pups go for about $3500 US

Wow! What a stunning looking dog. I've had huskies and malamutes and there have been plenty of people call them wolves, but yours truly looks like a wolf. Enjoy every second with him. ❤

My Skybaby is 1/3 wolf! I named her because I got her shortly after my soulmate was called home ! Strange he passed 11/10/13 She was born 11/22/13. She is my comfort! She reminds me of him ! She is my total comfort! It seems like she brought healing to all my family! When people come to my house she thinks they come to see her! If I don’t let her on.. later that week she will pee on my carpet! I made the connection! So I let her I. Whenever someone comes over! And it stop! She is so protective of us! She is going on ten years but still acts like a puppy.. she has her likes and dislikes… but she is only aggressive if she feels like anyone of of us in danger! But most people always brings her treats! She knows friend and foe! I would not have any other breed! She is husky malamute and wolf! ❤❤❤❤

I am living exactly the same experience. My Czechoslovakian Wolfdog was rescued from Spain to the UK. A beautiful young lady named Luna. She lives on belly rubs and kisses every half hour and loves hunting rabbits when we go on long walks. I think she would make an excellent girlfriend for Kane. Funny thing is I too have very long hair and a beard, quite a "hippy" look like yourself.

An "Italian Family “ family member had a pure black 75% wolf/25% German shepherd, started off loyal to only the husband, tollerating his wife and son but gradually became deadly to anyone but him, just thrashing and snarling to attack anyone else. He kept him caged at all times. BUT, I had a friend who was German and when she lived in Germany as a kid, she had a pure wolf (not mixed at all) her dad had stolen from it's mother's den and raised as a dog. It never harmed the family but gaurded her seriously from everyone, no one could come near her, not family or friends, if anyone moved the wrong way around her he was on duty blocking and snarling with a threat to carry it through. Years later in 2012 I was given a stray puppy by the neighbor kids who said one's brother found her in the road but none of their parents allowed them to keep her so they knocked on my door asking if I wanted her. I'd been looking/hoping to get a dog. She looked like a Pit pup/ small breed mix. Turns out she's a mix of hunting dogs including but not limited to Lunde Hund, Tree Fiest, Mountain Curr and Grey Hound, but has an under bite as with the Bullie terriers. I used to jokingly say she was a Mini Pit. She also has something wild in her. No oder whatsoever, arches her back like coyotes and foxes (cats) do lowering her head to the ground. She puts herself between harm and anyone she loves, has a completely unique howl than domestic dogs but not at all like coyotes, more like wolf or New Guinea singing dogs. When desperate she tries to talk, when alarmed she can blow the doors off my son's Rottweiler, even charged a wolf in our yard one morning as I was bringing her out to potty and it stood his ground as she stood hers, then it turned slowly and walked away. She's only 12 lbs. She's NOTHING... NOTHING like any of my many breads of my 6 decades of life. Yes, she punishes me if left alone. She want me to watch her chewing her toy for as long as she does, turns her back to me when mad. She communicates with custom signs I taught her. I use one of my hands to signal on answer option and the other for a different answer option and she'll pick the hand for the option/answer she chooses. She'll even do it when I ask if she or our other dog did something... UNTIL... she realized the other got a scolding... THEN... she started LYING to cover for the other. We found this out by using camera surveillance, she had not been committing the crimes she had started confessing to and getting scolded for. Then I had to teach her not to lie. She's like a wild animal, shakes and pants while the domestics happily wag their tails when food is delivered. She refuses everything but meat to the point of not eating and she's extremely stubborn. I used to think she was picky but pick has negative connotations like selfish or disregarding reason. I have come to realize she's CHOOSEY which denotes thriftiness or caution. Now I respect her choices because her sense of smell is incredible and her ability to detect something wrong is off the charts. I trust her if she indicates a bad choice. She's incredibly smart, but what she knows as fact to herself, she's solid ad a rock, inflexible. The wild in her just can't be tamed or domesticated. I love this dog so so much. I may shatter when she passes. I've never had a dog like her ever. She's at my side all the time, even if she's super uncomfortable where I may have to be sitting, stays with me every second and she's funny. Has only 2 toys she plays with since she was a puppy regardless of the hundreds of other toys I bought and made. And when I talk about perts of her life, she remembers, she jumps on me when I get to her favorite parts. I used this to talk about her mother whom I realized over time she still misses. With questions and her reactions I found out that the kids who gave her to me had stolen her from her mother from her perspective. I had taught her and the other dogs not to steal each other's food and toys and not to go too far or run away, so she knew what I meant when I said “I thought you run away from your mommy doggie, but it was the kids. The kids steal you (at this she slammed me with wiggling kisses all over, rolling herself all over me) from your mommy doggie “ I could not believe how happy she was that I understood. I had always been telling her not to go too far or run away because she will miss me (which to her “miss“ is more powerful emotion than “love“ because it's what she feels most strongly when we're not together), the kids will find you and give you to a different mommy “. Now I say, “That was mean of the kids to steal you (she lowers her head to the bed), you miss your mommy doggie (she does that crying thing she does every night of her life that I never used to understand, sucking the arm of her Hootie toy), now I understand (she looks directly at me), the kids steal you (she leaps up on me with crazy happy kisses)“ we go back to her nursing on her Hootie's arm while I pet her head like a mother dog licking her, soft, gentle, in all directions until her crying stops and her sadness passes and we both fall asleap. She's the love of my life!!! She signs “I love you“ putting her paw on my cheek and petting my cheak downward. It so huge when she randomly signs she loves me!!

Yep, you are going to have to replace shutters, doors, etc. It can get very expensive. I had to clean the roof, so I went up and sprayed it with bleach. I left Freki inside because it was hot, and I thought it wouldn't take long. I got stuck up there because the roof got so slippery, I would have slid off. I had to sit there and wait for it to dry. I could hear Freki tearing the house apart because he was by himself, but I couldn't move. It was horrible. :)

Be careful my breeder required a full year of study on the breed. They are not for everyone and are really hard on furnature and when they explode it is scary. They are also scary smart.

I had a Black German Shepherd with Gray Wolf mix 25 years ago when nobody had a wolf dog.
Trust me they eat anything and no you don't have to feed them just raw stuff.
Mine lived until she was 17...
Her veterinarian had experience with them and gave me the ok to feed her anything I wanted...
Except chocolate...
And BTW, she loved a cooked steak over a raw one any day!

Beautiful dog, it is so weird that some states still consider them wolf hybrids when they only have likw 6-8% wolf left in this breed. My husband & I have considered getting one as we are use to working breeds. Just worried about our daughter.
And thank you for sharing your beautiful companion with us.

Those are pretty low in wolf content so imagine what you get with a content of 50% or more. Don’t do it unless you have experience

Amazing how similar your Wolf-Dog is to my own. She is Wolf - Malamute Hybrid. She only lets people she knows and are close to her, pet her. She does allow little children to pet her. There are only four adults that she will allow to pet her. I tell people that she's not really a people person. I have never heard her howl, either. She doesn't bark outside unless another dog starts on her first, but for the most part, she just ignores them. She does bark if someone comes into her territory inside. Wish I could upload a picture of her.

I bought a gray wolf pup, her mother was a Arkansas black timberwolf, and her father was a red buffalo wolf from mexico. Full grown she could fill a twin bed, she was awesome, loved her so much, she cuddled with me, had a funny personality, and when the news jingle came on, she would howl, she was gorgeous.
Then my know it all neighbor fed her, without asking, when no one fed my wolf but me and she later died. THERE, is another example of know it alls stepping into someone's business . I totall loved my wolf . People may criticize, and thoes are the one who have no idea of what they speak of. Wolves are intelligent, you need to be one with them.

I was raised by North American timber wolves and grey wolves spending so much time at a predator center that did rehabs and release, if I was in better health, I'd have one, they are amazing animals, and fantastic companions as long as you understand their body language and communication. They will tell you when they want to be left alone, you can't just run up and cuddle them all the time. Not like I can with my hound or lab.
