SAS have ordered a total of 30 new Airbus A320neo aircraft that will fly on short and medium distance routes in Europe within the next 3 years; 4 Airbus 320neo were delivered in 2016, 11 Airbus A320neo will be delivered in 2017, 7 Airbus A320neo will be delivered in 2018 and lastly 8 Airbus A320neo will be delivered in 2019.
The new Airbus 320neo has a total new type of engines and thanks to the 2 large CFM Leap 1A engines and 2.4 m. tall sharklets at the wingtips, the new Airbus A320neo aircraft has very low fuel consumption and 1,000 km. longer range than our existing Airbus A320.
The Airbus A320neo aircraft have an estimated 20% lower fuel consumption per seat, which means savings of 5,000 tonnes of fuel per year for each of the 30 Airbus 320neo aircraft.
