Another tip as someone recovering from an ED: get yourself busy!!!! Join a club if you’re in school, find a new hobby, do something that will decrease the “free time” you have that leads to bingeing.

Another tip: Try drinking cold water, it personally helps me, cause often times binge eating occurs out of boredom when you gotta get your mouth busy with something, so water makes your stomach full and tricks your brain

Sophie, you’re the first person I follow that talks about binge eating, I’ve dealt with this disorder on and off for over 10 years and have just started to understand this issue about myself over the last couple years, and your content keeps helping me feel more comfortable about it

Writing things out helped me curb a developing ED in middle/high school and has helped me sleep after COUNTLESS anxiety ridden nights. Much love to everyone on their journey to recovery, the good moments always outweighs the bad💕💕

I love these tips. I'm recovering from binge eating, it had to do a lot with a hormonal balance, but my medication to balance my hormones hasn't completely stopped my binge urges.

It takes a lot to speak about our own problems in such depth, so yeah it's very impressive, thanks for helping people on the internet ❤

I love all of Sophie's ideas!
I use flavored drinks, (doesn't have to be pop, and really shouldn't be.) like my flavored Electrolyte waters, tea, fatty coffees, or even black coffee. For a lot of people, coffee can actually work as an appetite suppression. It doesn't really have that effect on me, but it does have a very strong flavor that I love and it gets my mind, mouth and stomach busy. Tea is also great. And if the cravings are really strong, have fun with your tea or coffee, make it an experience. But maybe don't add sweeteners as that can increase fake hunger. Stevia can do that less than sugar or other sweeteners for some people. Also, finding something that excites your brain, rather than just being mind numbingly entertaining. Like working on a project, (i love miniatures!) i wouldn't suggest watching something, unless you have something to do with your hands, because movies can also trigger hunger cues. Also, if you something with your hands, wgile watching or listening to something, can actually improve brain function and help with Neurological Disorders. Something else, some people have success with eating a small pat of butter by itself. The fat helps your brain, and alot of times cravings can be started because your body has a lack of nutrients, which for most people, is usually healthy fats. Bacon is one of my favorite brain foods. And it's salty and crunchy. Sometimes the aid for cravings, is eating a better food. I also use singing as a cure for this. As it gets my mind and brain busy. A lot of times cravings can also be caused by brain or hormone imbalances, and healthy animal fats help with both. And of course stress is a HUGE factor, which guess what? Healthy animal fats help with that too!

That's called opposite action! (dome therapy lingo), really good tip, and usefull, also, just the process of delaying that craving (by doing something else in the middle) helps a lot with the feeling of control, and it's just as you said, it can be a normal portion, and in this case, it's good to see it as a gift for delaying it or for doing your opposite action.
