I have one my mom gave me when I turned 19, still have it and it's still very water tight..
I also had to change the wristband several times throughout its lifetime, and the wristband you chose looks very much like the original one it came with. It had those kinds of square bumpy ridges and the tongue and.. buckle? I guess you'd call it, look like what you replaced it with.
You're right the size of the wristband pins is not standard, I always have a hard time finding something that fits and have to cut a little to get it to fit. Last time I changed it, I used a wristband for a Timex Ironman Triathlon rubber band and it fit pretty snuggly. 👍

I have one of these that I'm restoring. It is my own watch purchased when I was a junior sailor around '89 I think. Is there a way to know exact year of manufacture using the serial number?

How did you source this? My dad had 2 and has lost them yacht racing and has never had a better racing watch!
