How to seal wet wood for woodturning - reloaded

Good afternoon and welcome to the channel. I am uploading this video again as the previous version had some editing issues. Anyway, the purpose of this video is to show how I sealed the ends of freshly cut wood that intend to store before turning. The idea behind sealing the end grain ends of the wood is to prevent cracking prior to use. There are several ways to seal the end grain but in this video I used wood glue. If you know of other ways please share them in the comments section. Thanks for watching and please consider subscribing. All the best, Brian.

I’ve use melted paraffin wax and have had very good success. I used latex paint with mixed results. I’ve not used anchor seal.

Any updates? If you have a scale, would be interesting to weigh them and write it on the ends.. I have cut wet wood and had it mould, or twist if it was laid out to dry, etc.. Never tried doing that, other than, come to think of it, I cut a bunch of 2-6" diameter pecan and just threw them in a trash can in the back of the shop a couple of years ago.. Ha..ha.. Should give it a look myself.. Ha.>ha..

I've seen a 'proper' product for this in tins for large trees used but I've not had to try it myself. Im sure for that smaller stuff the PVA will work fine.

What is the approximate time before they are completely dried for turning? I'm in the beginning stages of turning and cut a cherry tree some 8 months ago just brought in a few turning logs. I treated both ends with glue, however, I also stripped off the bark with a chissle. Did I muck up by taking off the bark?
