It’s hard to beat an E53. Price, looks, practicality and - these days, rarity. I’m in the uk with a 4.6 and it stands out from the crowd. At the moment I’m driving several hundred miles across the uk each week to se my dad and on the journeys I may see 1 or 2 other E53’s. I agree also that prices will go up.

I have been a BMW bigot since 1980 when I bought new the 320 IS. drove it til 1998 only replaced a clutch under the warranty. regular oil changes and tune ups to 265, 000 miles. Guys would stop me to talk about the car. My wife thought it should be a convertible and backed under a tractor trailer which was its demise. still running well. I added in a 1988 735i which was an animal, drove for over 200, 000 miles until my son wrapped it around a bend in the road. Added in a 2001 X5 4.0 that snapped your head back. my son wrapped it around a tree in 2008 with 175, 000 miles on it and he walked away without a scratch. added in the twins 2006 X5s 3.0 currently 195, 000 and 264, 000 and still going. I have driven over one million miles in BMWs, Great cars. They covered NYC, Long Island beaches and Vermont ski slopes. Can't say enough praises for BMWs until 2006. I am slowing down at 73.

I sold my 3.0D cheap, in October 2022 just before the MOT was due, as it didn't feel right when i was driving it. Turns out it needed a fair bit of money spending on it.
Just seen it up for sale so going to look at it, at the weekend... all the issues have been fixed and it's £100 more than I sold it for.

i own a 2006 3.0d and i love everything about this car. just one thing im lacking is a big subwoofer in the rear :D i wanna ask was the sound system difficult to install? wiring, removing all the door panels and etc.?

Update July 7th 2024, timing chain currently being replaced, new 20 inch tyres, new battery, ignition coils, rear lights, rear window tints, new front discs and brakes, front steering components changed, new xtrons head unit, a new id4motion instrument cluster costing £1200! Next job refurbish the wheels. I own a BMW x5 2005 e53 4.8is, only 98k recorded miles! Recent conversion to LPG, and boy does it run sweet! Probably the best used car I've ever owned! Update!! New MOT.. NO ADVISORIES!!! BTW I'M NEARLY 66 YRS OLD!
