I'm wondering what they're doing with prisoners during this virus outbreak. They're too close to each other in their cells and during their lunch hours.

In 09 my brother was locked up in southern Louisiana and a hurricane hit so everyone was moved to Angola State Prison and after the storm the warden wouldn't let anyone leave. They kept all the prisoners till there sentence was up. Regardless of charges. The warden decided all in louisiana

I am from new orleans and my buddy was in opp *during Katrina... people died and were murdered in there and their bodys left around the others. I know one of the guys they said had died from unrelated cardiac arrest. Yah right... my friend is truly traumatized. I was even wrongfully arrested about 6 months after Katrina in Orleans parish and they could make a crazy movie just from what I experienced in there.... I was let out with an "oops sorry about that" almost a week later!

As embarrassing as it is to say I was in a county jail on the coast North Carolina during a hurricane evacuation once. The packed us up and took us to a jail about an hour inland. I was there for 15 days sleeping on a mat on the floor. It wasn't pleasant. That jail was much worse than the one I came from. I've since turned my life around since then.

In hurricane and flood zones they should install sump pumps that transfers the water into underground tanks.

I would love for something crazy like that to happen near me cause this is exactly how the guards would act EASILY. Like at least let them out of their cell and up out of water or something

slightly grey walls will still conduct heat, so, even without AC, a prison could still be painted high-gloss enamel white deflecting heat from sunlight: also, underground air is colder than the air trapped under a roof; if channeled, escaping warm-air would draw cool-air up; any underground corridors in the prison would cool the airflow from basement to ceiling if given a series of grills to pass through.

Katrina prisoners were shipped up to our brand new prison that hadn't opened yet. I heard there was a ton of damage that had to be repaired before they could officially open up.

I was just wondering about this, after my state had an earthquake, as well as w/ the virus. I've never been in trouble, so I'm ignorant. I do know No matter their crimes, they are friends, children, parents, & people. They need to serve their time safely, especially since so many have been proven innocent. Others turn their lives around, or are in jail for something like 1 kid, accused of stealing a backpack, he served 3 yrs before he died. No matter who they are, It's not safe for anyone to be in those conditions. I know putting them in even tighter wouldn't help things fights, but temp during the flood, why couldnt they add 1 more per cell upstairs till flooding is done. Fear for days wasnt needed. Guards could've let them know that they weren't left & forgotten. I would think being treated like an animal would reinforce how they feel, & give them less chances.
