➤ ABOUT US: Hi! We’re Nick & Raychel, the couple behind the blog Not Luxe - where we write travel guides & help people open their eyes to alternative living, whether that be teaching English online, moving to Cambodia, taking advantage of working holiday visas (like in Australia) or building a DIY stealthy camper van to live & work on the road. Right now, we’re living the van life and travelling throughout Canada and the USA.

Our goal here is to bring you weekly content where we hope to inspire you to break free & live the life you desire. On this channel, we talk everything from finances to minimalism to working online to mindset and post a weekly vlog of our daily lives. We hope you join us on our journey to see the world, save money, live minimally, and most importantly, have fun.

So if you're looking for a channel about van life and budget travel, you're in the right place.

At least, if you don't like your neighbors, you can drive away

I've been living in my van 3 years now! Everything you talked about just becomes normal! The judgment is real ❤

I'll tell you a terrific tip about living in a van. Visit the truck stops, where everyone is welcome. Every truck stop offers showers, and if you buy 50 gallons of gas, you can use the facilities for free. There may also be a recreation area with a TV. Additionally, the truck stops are enormous, giving you plenty of privacy and stay as long as you need to. I am aware of this because I formerly worked as a truck driver. People who live in vans probably aren't aware of the benefits of truck stops. Try it out; you'll save money that way.

when you guys get to AZ near the Superstition Mountains I found a spot where I've been sitting for 4 months, good data, quiet, cool breeze. only 4 other campers here in 400 enclosed acres.

Life is sometimes awkward, being grateful makes it all worth while.
As far as others, misery loves company, take no notice of the weak links in life, we owe it to ourselves to make the most of it.

It must be difficult sometime but what an incredible experience, too.

Especially while you're young, it looks like a great way to live. Don't forget to take tons of pictures so that you can look at all your adventures when/if you settle down later in life. Keep up the good work. ❤😅😊

It just baffles my mind that anyone would waste energy complaining or criticising the way you live.

That first one hits hard my bf & I live in an rv stationary together at the moment, it can be so hard but we have made it work. There’s absolutely no privacy whatsoever but I kind of love it, most days. I think if you can live small together you can survive anything!

Never "beach" a van. Don't treat a van like an apartment. Know your van's maintenance schedule and stick to it. Learn how to change a tire, recharge AC. Don't wander trip - have a destination and read about it. Get a good CB radio and a Sat phone. Learn how to read paper maps. Be social with likeminded people. Don't ever trade anything for a bag of skinned squirrels. Learn where you can fish, cook your own food and stay away from junk food. Search the internet and posts for deliveries of small packages. If it doesn't heal in three days get medical help - nothing else matters. Don't do this for fun, do this for your fund. Find a way to pay for it - never from savings or your grandma's inheritance.

I can relate %100, my van is parked in rental spot and have a car to go to work, the lady that parks her car next to my space she looks at me like I have 2 heads or I stink, it's a different level of living, in my case I love solitude and privacy, but it gets to me the bathroom use....😕
I got homeless bc of covid and evicted by a sucker and his mother
