I listened to the entire podcast, and watching zero for so long, I know how good of friends they were, and it’s really sad to see your best friend throughout ur smash career just drop you. He also said “if the roles were swapped, I would’ve found a way to talk to him privately” and that’s just really sad man, losing a good friend really sucks.😢

Nobody should blame Mew2King for this. The guy has worked himself up from nothing literally living off of tournament prize money in melee for years, then finally gets the sponsorship he deserves. No way he's gonna give that up. He has to play ball with the smash community to stay on good terms with his job.

I think Sky made a good point during the podcast. M2K put tens of thousands of hours in to this game and expected nothing back and now that he is finally making a living off of a passion that he never expected to he is extremely nervous (especially given his personality) of losing that if he decides to associate with you. That being said, I think he could have communicated through DM's if he felt comfortable enough but he is probably trepidatious about the entire situation. I hold out hope that he will reconnect with you at some point in the future.

That actually really sucks. I can understand it from a monetary point, but it could have be done so much more tastefully.

It's sad but it's understandable, at least in M2K's case. He's been talking about how he hasn't been doing the best financially, so losing his sponsors, even to rekindle an old friendship, most likely isn't on his list of priorities. If he was a lot more financially stable, who knows? But at the same time, the Smash community is fickle.

Listening to Sky's POV, you guys have to understand M2K's side. This dude has no good way to make money. He needs money. His twitch has less than 100 viewers.

If anyone's to blame, it's the sponsors. And even then, it's not really the sponsor's fault either. Zero's name is in the mud and if a sponsor has any kind of contact with zero, they risk backlash from zero's antis and the smash community.

So really, the smash community's to blame for their split up. If m2k had enough money to live comfortably, I too, would believe m2k wouldn't care. He'd still be friends with zero. But as he said, very plain and simple, "I'll lose my sponsor". In other words, "I need the money badly".

M2K is a good person, but even good people have their obligations.

I mean M2K was traumatized by that whole event to the point that he had to release extremely personal information just to get out from under the accusations with that stuff. While I don't think that M2K is making the right call here I also can't blame him for it.

damn shame, i remember about a year ago Nairo ran into M2K online & they went 2 rounds on Elite. there's a video out there of the side-by-side stream & it looked like they had fun.

Juggling four characters right now and it's something that has required a ton of energy for me. I'm debating dropping Corrin and Cloud and just going back to only using Roy and Aegis like I used to, but I picked up Cloud and Corrin because of how fun they were to play and it sucks to drop a character I've put so much time into. It's like an eternal character crisis. I started out in Ult with Roy+Young Link+Palutena. Then about seven months in, I switched to Roy+Wario+Pokemon Trainer. In the quarantine era, I went back down to only two characters with Roy+G&W. After that I was grounded for a while (this was before I became an adult), and when I was finally ungrounded, all DLC except Sora came out, so I tried them and really clicked with Aegis, so I added them. About a year and a half ago, I added Cloud, and finally most recently, I added Corrin about three months back and I really think I should drop down again.

Moral of the story, don't be like me. The only good thing about my story is that one character stayed the entire time, and most of that is because I've been maining Roy since he was shit in smash 4 and immediately decided I'm maining him again after finding out no one got cut from the roster.
