Picking out reading glasses for the first time can be intimidating but it's pretty easy. In this video, we explain how to choose reading glasses and what over the counter reading glasses strengths you can start out with.

For some patients, low strength reading glasses will be enough. For others, especially those who have worn glasses for distance correction in the past, they may need high power reading glasses.

Hello Doc thanks for the info .
I am 45 and use to wear 1.0 reading glasses for around 3 years . Recently made my new glasses and it was 1.25 . I tried reading with 1.0 and 1.25 and both are comfortable. So which should I use daily . If I continue to use 1.0 then will I increase my power to 1.50 .

I just had my eye appointment last month, and I'm about to get some reader's glasses and I'm trying to decide which one would be right for me, since I'm in my 40s. Do you think I should start with +1.25 or +1.50?
