Microsoft Flight Sim 2024... what a mess!

It is now 4 years after the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 has just launched... and its a complete pile of CRAP!!!!!!!!!!

Getting sub 30fps at 1440p with that rig is absolutely shocking. It appears that scenery loading into the cache is the new bottleneck.

No offense, but in 2024, it is an... *unsound* decision to buy ANY game, regardless of publisher or track record, on launch. You're just setting yourself up to be burned.

They knew it was not ready for release, but had to do it because Marketing wouldn't allow them to rename the game to MSFS 2025.

Airline pilot here: if you get a glideslope warning, add thrust. Flying down the glideslope is backwards when you’re shooting an ILS - meaning that you use thrust to maintain glideslope and pitch to maintain airspeed. *cue “the more you know” splash screen*

I’m just shocked at how bad the photogrammetry is in my home town and other cities, compared to 2020… It literally looks SIGNIFICANTLY worse on the ground than a game that came out 4+ years ago. Can’t believe we got so hyped for THIS.

Yesterday...a fail, no question. This morning the Sim started up perfectly fine, I wanted to see if it was fixed....I had to leave for work. Came home around 5PM ET USA, around 5:30pm it loaded up, I actually had a very good enjoyable flight...(still getting used to new controls). But this was short lived, Loaded up the Beluga at Newark, the plane had no sound and the sim totally froze shortly after take off. Restart, new plane at JFK, again total freeze after the "zoom in" animation.

RESTART after 10-15 min. Chose another Airbus (the aircraft selection screen was a jittery mess), but I chose another Airbus. Takeoff from LAX was ok, flying fine for 10 min, then loss of all controls of the plane, no flaps, couldn't throttle down, once again, sim froze up. Decided to try ONE final time, I only got to the Free Flight Globe screen before the entire sim crashed to desktop.

So...yeah, this is real enjoyable! 😠

Cloud streaming will kill this game, there should be an option to download large elements of it

I'm an X plane 3rd party developer. MSFS crushed our 3rd party sales. They utterly destroyed many of us. Give X plane 12 another shot. It runs off of the hardware and you can get autoortho for free. We have some amazing aircraft coming soon that everyone that loves simulation will really enjoy! We are not a corporate 3rd party outfit, we love what we do and we still enjoy the simulator daily as enthusiasts.

I don't care if the install size is 1TB or even more. I want the option to play locally. Local will always be better than server even if its not always practical. The people who want to go all out on sim games won't mind buying a new SSD for just 1 game and the cloud could be there for everyone else. The option to download locally may even save them some money in server costs in the long run.

I hate the cloud storage thing. 50GB is not huge, and offline is so worth it!
