This is why Evocation is the only subclass if wizard I'm allowed to play

Considering it's a fireball spamming wizard, they're also likely to be a evocation wizard.
Which means the spell only does HALF damage to the party unless they already take HALF in which case it is NO DAMAGE...

playing as ab abjuration wizard means you still cast fireball, you also just use ward to protect your party members from said fireball 😂

Tip for the GM: If your wizard is only casting fireball it's because you're not giving them enough foreshadowing. Playing a wizard feels best when we can prepare the perfect spell list for the situation. Drop hints, telegraph your encounters and give your wizard time to go to the library, and we'll stop preparing fireball every day.

The fact that fireball is such a trope makes me actively choose other spells as a wizard
