Young Scottie Pippen's beef with the Bulls grew from a fragile ego and a calculating GM | Part I

When you think of the 90s Bulls you think of Michael Jordan and winning and, oh yeah, definitely Scottie Pippen too. It's not easy being the second best guy on the best team. (Though I'm sure it's better than being the second best guy on a terrible team.)

And everything is made harder when your injuries aren't taken seriously, your contract negotiations are put off, and your GM likes Toni Kukoc more than you.

What could Scottie Pippen do but... demand trades and bench himself during the playoffs.

Move over championship trophies, you're blocking our view of Beef.

The fact that Toni Kukoc ends up hitting that game winner in the one where Scottie sat in last seconds is ruthlessly poetic

Every time I watch videos about the 90’s Bulls, I’m amazed they even won one championship with all the hostility in both the locker room and front office. I know they had MJ and a perfect supporting cast (twice), but normally ego downs teams like this early on.

If Scottie Pippen vs Bulls is Beef History XL, will Kobe vs Shaq be Beef History XXL ?

This just shows the classic Bulls management. From the 90's all the way to 2018 the Bulls management has been filled with mismanagement, egos, and disrespect for their stars.

Scottie made 20.2 million in his career with the bulls before leaving after 8 seasons. He made 66.3 million with the trail blazers in 4 seasons. (Contract data starts in 1990 probably ~2-3 more million and 3 more seasons for the bulls to start)

Pippen lives close to me and I’ve met him in at a local market. He’s hard to miss because you don’t realize how tall he is until you see him in person. Also a very nice guy.

Currently going through my second torn disc. Excruciating is an understatement, I can't even imagine how much worse it was for someone 7-8" taller than me

"Look at Scottie Pippen. Doesn't he look happy" Already had me rolling laughing in 3 seconds. Scottie might be the saltiest winner of all time lol.

I feel Scottie just wanted to feel being appreciated and the feeling of importance, people underrate him and overlook him so much

Being from Arkansas, Pippen was like our hero. Him and Derek Fisher made it and gave us hope. It’s a shame what he had to go through

I feel for Scottie Pippen who has been through a lot of hardship in his life, some self inflicting, but he has to be one of the most tortured soul I have ever came across.

As someone who has never really watched basketball, I enjoy these types of videos(Beef History, Rewinder) about the NBA. The amount of research and detail is fascinating to see. Great work.

Grew up in Chicago in the 90s after being born in 85. Always thought Pip was underrated and never got the respect he deserved, from the organization, the fans, and the media. Loved that guy😢!

Good people often get screwed over by sociopaths and psychopaths. Scottie caring for his brother and father tells you all you need to know about his character, what a guy.

Scottie pippin is the reason why whenever I hear an MLB player signed a 10 plus year deal I think that the player is going to hate that.

Y’all don’t know how happy I was when I saw “part 1” in the intro

Pippen vs Bulls is more like Pippen and Phil vs Krause. The latter as GM didn't give a rats behind about giving back for the value that Pippen provided to the Bulls while also antagonizing the head coach for keeping the team together despite the friction between Pippen and the front office, along with the misfits in the cast (mainly Rodman). Still cannot forget his own threat to Phil saying "I don't care if you go 82-0, you are F'ing done."

Pippen was a devastating defender and loved watching him play especially during the first 3-peat.

It's sad because I believe Pippen had buried the hatchet and was at peace with everything but seeing The Last Dance just reopened all those old wounds.

Pippen deserved more credit than the media and fans give him. As Jordan said, there is no Jordan without Pippen, as there is no Pippen without Jordan. No six championships without either of those guys. There are truly the best duo.
