What Kant is saying is that the consequence which is the new concept is synthetic as it is a product of our intuition which allows us the cognitive ability to "experience"the new concept through the grouping of the initiate concept. In essence, the act of "unifying initiate elements/concept and comes up with new concept" that is deduced by our intuition is synthetic as it adds new information that can't be found in the initiate concept.

This may or may not help, but Kant uses the word intuition in a weird way and means something different by it than we do. The Prolegomena may just be poorly translated at parts.

..to some corporeal object. How can a process be intuitive if it must be explained? I hope you can clear up these difficulties of mine. In the meantime, please keep up the outstanding work!

Mr. Campbell, I am a devout follower of your videos and think you do a wonderful job. However, I seem to find myself in some confusion at this point. From my perspective, it seems as though the "concepts" of the numbers 8-12 would be a prerequisite for adding together 7 and 5. This of course would not make the "discovery" of 12 any kind of discovery at all, therby removing its synthetic quality. Furthermore, in a mathematical sense, the process of addition carries no meaning without reference..
