Every time Steve Hackett's solo comes I got goosebumps

I must have listened to this song hundred of times over 40 years, and never got tired of it.

This song is pure perfection from beginning to end. Steve Hackett's guitar playing is beyond phenomenal. They all shine and compliment each other so well. It's the definition of Masterpiece.
Another great instrumental off this album is Cinema Show..

Steve Hackett, proof you don't have to play at 1000 mph to be one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

One of Tony Banks’ finest composition, unknown to the casual listener, but the sound core of Genesis from day 1…Banks and Rutherford there from the beginning … and Steve Hackett’s guitar solo is magnificently sublime

What I would like to explain to today's young people is that back in the early 70s the expansive soundscapes that Prog gave us was completely new and exciting. Of course classical music had done this for years but never had popular music been so exploratory. I am so glad that I am old enough to have experienced it in real time. ❤❤

Selling England by the Pound is my favorite Genesis album. The Cinema Show and Dancing with the Moonlit Knight are worth a reaction...

One of my top 2 bands of all time. ELP were my favourite, but these guys were a close second. Peter, a brilliant storyteller with those fantastic lyrics and theatrics on stage, Phil with his brilliant backing vocals along with some of the best drumming around, Michael Rutherford incredible bass lines, Tony Banks, what can you say, a brilliant keyboard man and a fantastic songwriter and last but not least Steve Hackett. For me anyway, the most underrated guitarist ever, especially after hearing the guitar solo on this wonderful song. His guitar playing is so crisp, so melodic. Whenever I hear Steve play, I get goosebumps. His solo stuff is great as well. GOD!!!! I love this band.

In one way it is not the most typical progressive rock song, more classical inspired but the flow is outstanding smooth and without doubt one of the most beautiful song written. Steve Hacket with his guitar, Mike Rutherford on rhythm guitar, bass and bass pedals, Tony Banks on piano and organ, Phil Collins on drums and Peter Gabriel on voice and flute... masterpiece

One of the few songs you can hear "for the first time" for about 1000 times. I do that since 35 years. :)

This song, as you now know, is one of the "creme de la creme" of the genre. Thanks for reacting to it. Tony Banks at his peak, and Steve Hackett too. I teared up when I first heard it in 1973. I still do. Every. Single. Time.

Maybe the greatest Genesis composition. The piano intro is certainly one of the finest ever.

Steve Hackett makes his guitar sound like it's weeping in one of the most beautiful guitar solos ever made. So powerful. It makes me cry every time.

One of the most epic guitar solos ever. Steve Hackett is so underrated. He even invented tapping into modern guitar play long before Eddie van Halen.

Another vote for "Dance on a Volcano" when you dig into Genesis next. :)

So many classic songs from the 70's, yet Firth of Fifth soars with the best of them. Tony Banks and Steve Hackett shine with musical genius

Steve Hackett’s solo makes me cry every time! Saw his Selling England tour 2 years ago - cried again. Brilliant live. Seeing his Seconds Out tour soon - can’t wait.

The live version from 1977's "Seconds Out" is also quite beautiful.

This is Phil Collins best drum recording in my opinion. His time, his fills, are fantastic. The song is EPIC, and he supports it perfectly.

A masterwork of progressive rock. Excellent point about the transitions.
