I’m not a foster parent, but this seems like… maybe not the best decision.

Those classes were invaluable, I can’t imagine jumping into foster care without them.

This is terrifying. Trauma informed care is the CORE of keeping kiddo from jumping placement to placement. I understand the need for more foster parents but this is NOT the way to go.

Let's attract more people of higher quality by requiring even less of them. That should work!

Super weird because fostering is already under heavy scrutiny due to some people just being truly the worst? So maybe we don’t actively try to make it worse??? What is happening?

What?! That's terrible. I feel like as much preparation as possible should be mandatory. Not optional. This isnt fair to the kids who will end up with unprepared, unequipped foster parents 😢

I've never been a foster parent, but I would think those classes would be very valuable to helping the children.

That's so messed up. I know the system needs more participants to care for the children, but not at the expense of actually _preparing_ them to care for the children.

Why are they changing the requirements? More training is better for the kids.

That is so messed up. Being a foster parent is so tough. I can't imagine someone trying to do it without the training.

As someone who lived in Idaho for 10 years.... Yeah that tracks. I know they're struggling to find foster parents in the state, but this is NOT the way to do it.

Each child deserves safety, to feel a sense of belonging and to feel loved.

That's ridiculous. I work at a therapeutical school, and we're constantly doing meetings on trauma-informed care. This is an absolute necessity.

I grew up in foster care in Idaho... this sure checks out for how they operate.

I’m sorry but WHAT?! As a former foster child, MORE trainings need to be in place not less!

That is crazy!(Retired sped teacher here, taught lots of kids in foster care--and the kids with trauma deserve the best care society can provide.)

In Idaho of all places?? That’s gonna be a disaster.
