I Tried Making a Multi-Purpose Home Office

This room has changed so much since my wife began editing on this channel so, she needs a dedicated workspace. But we also want to use this same space for other activities like working out, relaxing, or as a guest room. So this video outlines the trials and tribulations that we went through to get this room to a spot that it can be this all encompassing flexible room. Let’s talk about it.

That sofa bed is so smart and practical. Wish I had that when I was renting a tiny ADU in my landlord’s backyard. A sofa bed makes so much sense in a studio/single room unit environment.

One cool way to have automations in this room while keeping it simple when guests are over is to use a dummy switch (if you're using something like Google Home or Apple HomeKit) and have all the automations check if that switch is ON prior to running. That way, when you have guests coming you can flip the switch on your phone and all the crazy automations won't run. I do this for my office (which has a similar pull-out bed for guests) and it works great!
