While the original is absolutely embedded in the brains of my generation (and with good reason!) and this version isn’t perfect by any means, James Cromwell *absolutely nailed* the way he played “Father Callahan” in this. It’s an absolutely phenomenal performance, and if you can overlook this remake’s weak-spots and set aside the high bar of its predecessor, he alone will reward you for your time.

A few years later, when I started reading Stephen King’s epic “The Dark Tower” saga, James Cromwell was always who I pictured, his portrayal was THAT good.

Underrated remake. I didn’t appreciate it when it first came out. In retrospect, it wasn’t bad at all.

I recently finished reading the book yesterday and while this version (plus the 1979 one) deviates significantly from the text, I do praise this miniseries for presenting the tale in a contemporary time and for what it did get right. Some of the original twists I sort of enjoyed though. Could have been scarier but I appreciate it retaining the creepy air King's famous for.

Never seen it, and haven't had a huge desire to either because I thought the original nailed it - or perhaps I should say staked it. Best thing Tobe Hooper ever directed.

I stand by that,
But after having seen the 2024 version
I think I'll give this one another watch
