Discord Will Ban You For This Seemingly Normal Picture...

Discord will ban you if you share a specific photo of someone eating popcorn. Not him. Even worse, you could be put on a list as a potential predator. YouTuber No Text To Speech tried it for himself and was banned in under 2 minutes. What is this photo and why is banned so quick?

It's not the photo itself Discord doesn't like. It's that the video the photo is in contains child ab*se material. Discord uses this software called PhotoDNA to help moderate the platform. PhotoDNA has a database of flat-out vile content that it can terminates on site.

The popcorn photo is from a larger video that is flagged so you share it, you get the axe. But it gets worse. Discord reports anyone banned in this manner to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Who quote will work with law enforcement and take appropriate action.

There's no known cases of someone getting arrested for having this photo. But why mess around and find out. #shorts #news #discord #youtuber

It’s also likely that the police will come knocking on your door with a search warrant if you get banned for sending this image without knowing what it’s from. However in that case they would probably let you go with a warning if they determine that you legitimately had no idea exactly what the origin of that screenshot was.

That honestly sounds like a massive Hassle for the FBI to have to sift through thousands of automatic reports just from people sharing a gif, the context of which might be completely lost on them. Similar to making false 911 calls, that should be illegal so they can spend their time tracking actual child predators

Discord also identified a picture of my hand as sexually explicit content on multiple occasions, so.... I'm not sure how much stock I'd put into it... yes, my hand is "nude", no I don't plan on wearing gloves all the time. Also, having reported actual child predators through them in the past and nothing happening, I'd say this is just for show sadly. =/

I was so curious about this whole situation. I had heard about it on Twitter and the photo looks totally normal. Just a dude eating popcorn with a headset. I was so baffled, like it looks like such a normal image, how tf does it go from guy eating popcorn to literal scum!? That’s wild, I warned all my friends about this. Thank you so much.
