Discord Should Ban MEE6 Already!

Mee6's devious actions of being the worst Discord bot out there is starting to spread to other bots. Carl bot is slowly become a shell of what it once was (pun intended) and BotGhost is doing some wacky bribery. What a mess. Please Discord just remove Mee6 from the platform before it creates infinite content.

Anyways Mee6 is stupid because it keeps breaking Discord's rules (or at the very least stretching the rules as thin as possible. And it's true, I hate Mee6 and the fact that they get this special treatment from Discord.

I used Mee6 until they started getting into NFT's. I migrated most functions to a self-hosted bot, and switched to using YAGPD for self-assigning roles. While I personally don't have any issues with YAGPD as of right now, I might eventually look for an open-source solution for roles, as well.

This is especially annoying me, because while Discord blatantly ignores MEE6's breaking of ToS/other guidelines (music playing, gambling on App Directory, email/DM advertising, etc.), small bots (like mine) are instantly punished if Discord sees fit, sometimes even without good reason. (And support seldom listens to appeals.)

The problem is... MEE6 is too big now. MEE6 is by far the biggest discord bot, and a ton of people depend on MEE6. If discord suddenly bans MEE6, then you will have a lot of angry people, and I fear discord will ignore the issue so they don't have to deal with any drama that comes with it. And that's just going to make MEE6 worse...

Personally I think the CarlBot stuff isn't comparable to MEE6, you have to actually run a command willingly to do so. Most people (including me) have never heard of the issue command

Frequent user of Carl-bot here (and occasionally present in its support server as well as YAGPDB's) - I just want to clarify why the Roblox command exists. A couple of months ago, one of the current Carl-bot developers created a poll in the support server asking what new commands people wanted to see on the bot. There were a few options; music, levels, games, economy, and "other". The games option was referring to stuff for popular games like Minecraft and, well, Roblox, which makes sense, because Carl-bot does have some commands related to video games (most specifically Fortnite & World of Warcraft).

Anyway, what had happened was that music & levels were actually the most voted options, but neither of them could be implemented - although the code for music had been created, it was at this point when Discord started revoking verification from music bots that allowed people to play YouTube videos. Meanwhile, there was already an existing system for levelling on Carl-bot, but it was a premium feature & it would've required a major rewrite. As a result, they went for the most picked result that wasn't either of them, and that was games. They made a poll asking what games people liked playing, and most people said Roblox. That's why they implemented the feature - note that it isn't something that's FORCED on you like MEE6 DMs, but rather a command of its own that you can choose to use or not.

As for what the Reddit post was saying about Carl-bot's support? It depends. It's definitely not terrible, but it can be strict at times. While it does make sense for that to happen considering both the bot's size and the server's size, I do still think they could loosen up a little bit; but again, it's not bad support, simply overly strict sometimes.

In my opinion the advertisement from Carl bot is fine because it don't send you dms randomly and post the advertisement randomly in chat, it only shows it when you run a specific command.

Considering how much bad history a lot of the overrated and well known bots, I think you should do a video of where you share some smaller bots that you think are as good as others. This can help pushing those bots to more server and therefor keep more people safe from the bigger badder bots.

Tried MEE6 once a few years ago. It's a sentient, malevolent gargoyle of a bot. It is the Furby of discord bots. Friend was dead set on getting MEE6 for moderation purposes (someone did a bit of trolling in the server, we needed some decent firepower). Bloody thing kept saying "GG leveled up to lvl2" at inappropriate moments during conversations. Screw that, yeeted it out the server within a day. Told my friend we would use Dyno, no problems since. Dyno doesn't bother us, we ask very little of Dyno.
Only ever needed 4 commands from Dyno: purge messages, mute, ban, and cat. Cat gets used a lot.
