NASA says technical problems with Boeing's Starliner spacecraft make a return flight to Earth "too risky" for astronauts stranded on the International Space Station. It's another setback for Boeing, now that NASA has booked rival SpaceX for the return flight in February 2025. That means a long wait for astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who were only supposed to be on the ISS for a week.
We discuss Boeing's problems and the consequences with former rocket scientist Keith Cowing.

What an absolute disgrace Boeing 🙄 And you expect people to climb on your bean counter designed flying deathtraps called airliners? 😠😠😠

The prevailing wisdom when Boeing was an Engineering Company was "If It Isn't Boeing, I Ain't Going" now transformed along with the company when it became a Bean Counting Dominant company. The new public moniker is just the opposite. Yet, not a single high level resignation or act of contrition.. That's the essence of our national decline.

When you replace engineers with bean counters, this happens.

If its boeing, i would rather walk to space –
They went for a 8 day tour, and are stranded for 6 months.

The US Government needs to cancel all Boeing contracts.

When they get big enough, great engineering companies founded by an engineer eventually get their turn being run by someone from finance or marketing. They chase the money instead of the tech and you end up getting this mess.

The real news story is which U.S politicians got rich off this contract?

To top things off Airbus is going to end up running Boeing out of the airliner business. Boeing is a dumpster fire!!!

6 months, not 5 or 6 times a week. I don’t mean to be snarky but we’re talking about half a year, which might be really cool, just pointing out the math since we’re talking science here…

You have to think about it, if Boeing doesn't even have quality controls for a door hatch install, how could they realistically manage to coordinate fabrication of a complicated space crew capsule?

If this was a movie America would have been there in a week.

3:48 “I love the rocket you just explained” after telling us that it’s not a good rocket. Is she drunk?

Hopefully the new Boeing CEO can shake things up. They're bringing their manufacturing back in house which is a promising first step.

That is very scary. There is no way I would ever want to go into space
