All of Atterberg's works have been a great discovery of mine. I bought most of his works for my collection. Symphony 6, 2nd movement is most haunting melody. his works stir my Swedish soul.

Some kind of powerful feeling from this symphony I cannot describe. It would be nice if there was a LOVE button, not just like.

This performance is much better than the Járvi. In fact, this set is unbeatable, desert-island discs. I'm very fond of Atterberg, and this symphony is authentically beautiful, as his others. This work was created with love, passion, craftsmanship. The handling of the melodies is simply unique, atmospheric, convincing, all mixed with precise orchestration. Thanks for posting this utterly amazing symphony!

Symphony Nr.8 dies in its sleep under Járvi, but wakes up and sings through Ari Rasilainen, thank God!

I find it gorgeous how the main theme from the first movement (1:12) comes back in the coda of this part (8:14) with its deconstructed harmony and crowns the whole piece in the heroic ending (32:30). As usual in an Atterberg's symphony the melodies are combined with great counterpoints. From all his works that I have heard, I love this symphony and his piano concerto the most!

Moments of Dvorak and Sibelius cross through this symphony.

That's what I call sweet bitterness.

I agree with the comments below, Rasilainen is excellent in every one of these symphonies if not the best in many of them.
