Yet this process can take years which I do not understand. While you are waiting you can get kicked and there's nothing you can do about it because these people will find some kind of loop hole to justify their reason for kicking you.

Today on the news I just saw the last people to become U.S. Citizens before the election on 11/08/16. And it was a beautiful thing to behold. I was born a U.S. Citizen. And seeing those good folks today, and thinking about how hard they worked to become U.S. Citizens just made me so proud to be part of, for me, the greatest nation on earth.

For anyone curious about the precursor to these steps, you have to apply for permenant residency (green card) which requires forms to be obtained and submitted. There is a processing fee of $700, and it can take between 7-33 months to approve, depending on a variety of factors.
