In this video, I revisit the gardens and orchard where cover crops were seeded in our video Cover Crops in the Garden (Part 1). In Part 1, I explained the why, when, and how of cover crops. And now in Part 2, I show the progress after 8 weeks of growth, explain what will happen next now that it is getting cold, and give a close up look at each crop all grown up.

Superb video! I'm a landscaper who also wants to create gardens that make a difference. We're starting to use cover crops before a meadow sowing, so we can evaluate the soil seed bank/monitor for problematic weeds. Thank you for sharing your cover crop knowledge and passion. I'm looking forward to learning more from you!

I'd love to see examples of cover crops in much smaller residential settings. I have raised beds and have tried winter rye and crimson clover...but bother wintered and required more work than I expected. I'm interested in no-till gardening, but these cover crops required me to till them in. Thanks for all the good information.

Great presentation.
Can you suggest a Cover Crop for the hot Summer months of July/August in Northern Israel when it is too hot to do much in my hobby Garden?.

Hi, I'm Charles. I'm from Democratic Republique of Congo, currently living in South Africa. In my country we have 9 months of rain and 3 to 5 months of winter depending on the region you're living in. My question about to know if whether all the cover crop seeds you've listed can all grow well under a tropical region as the case for my country.
Best regards

How do you kill the clover? I mow it all the time in my yard. And it doesn't die from mowing

can the grasses you mention, or grasses like buckwheat ryegrassm tricale, etc be mowed multiple times to create an ongoing living mulch? Or will the first few mows prevent it from reaching its potential and end up killing it?

Are you sure turnips and radish will decompose in the winter? Aren't they biennials?
