I took 2 pistol classes with John. He is so unassuming, quiet and laid back, it’s hard to connect his past life. A true hero. And a great teacher.

So well said! We always said that you have to be more concerned to the person to your right or left than you are yourself. You worry about them, and let them worry about you.

If you don't need to, and you know you don't. Then it can only be a negative.

Actually, you proved out the solo player version of doing things alone more than once that I am aware of.. That being said, and I'm not really qualified to say this, militarily speaking. Some guys might not like your way of doing business.. Cry up command.. And, you end up behind bars.. I truly appreciate how you guys can opporate in a team format and also by yourselves...

I miss the old days when you could know someone for years and just not know, because they didn't share.

At the end of the day, life comes down to choices and the William Calley or Hugh Thompson and Collin Powell or Ron Ridenhour tests reveal who you are.

Did he really just say you can't do this alone while explaining why he does it alone?

I don't like putting people into 2 baskets of "he listens to orders" and "doesn't listen". If I trust who's giving me orders I'll take a life no questions asked because I trust him to make the right call. I'm not gunna end somebody's life cause some idiot told me too.

Normal people can't wrap thier heads around just how important your team is... Yes John did many solo missions... but it took an entire team he had to rely on to get into target area and out... Recon/scoutting isn't entirely by yourself!! it takes a special kind of psychotic to do only what you are told when you are told and only engage to the degree permitted... Sometimes information extraction gets messy... we can't have someone puking or saying no... this shows your target weakness... This take a certain kind of nuts... and very very few have it!!
