This so true…when at uni I would fast before exams and had clarity of mind and an ability to learn that at times left me in awe. Later in life now, I still use fasting to learn, or to heal or to gain insight into a problem or issue. It’s not something that goes down well with western ideas or western medicine but there is a power there that you speak of, and that your grandfather experienced. Thank you for sharing your teachings, it’s truly appreciated.

Sugar is more taxing on my mind, body, and spirit than any drug I have ever ingested because mostly no one else can see what it does to us and everyone uses it.

As a child I suffered from pinworm infection. When I would get sick I would throw up horrendously. Even when drinking some luke warm water or tea, as I was trying to not dehydrate. I would have to stay without liquids for at least two days. During the third or fourth day I could start to drink or have some toast. My digestive system was terribly sensitive and would require at least a week to recover. Later in life I realized that this too was fasting, as the immune system was recovering. These teachings are so valuable. Peace to everyone.

I can testify that this is true. Fasting gives you a natural high that introduces you to the deepest parts of yourself. I used to roll my eyes when I heard people say fasting has spiritual benefits. Boy were they right.

Usually whenever I am faced with a crisis, like economic, addiction, joblessness, relationship problems, enemies at work or in life stay home inside my bed for three days. Without consuming any solid or liquid, without smoking. In the fourth day the problem is solved. I get up, take a good shower, get well dressed and go out for fresh air and to dine alone and celebrate.

I fasted once for 40+ days. It was a insight in the spiritual and physical realm unlike any other. That I've ever experienced. This is true about fasting.

So true. I seen my dad prepare for sweatlodge and fast many times. The body cravings is a distraction to the mind he used to say.

It has been said that prayer is the way we speak to God. Fasting and meditation is the way we listen. I have many friends from many walks of life. They are good and honest folk. But, when I shared this information with some Christian friends, they immediately they began to make excuses for why they couldn't fast (even though it is mentioned in their own texts) Most of the reasons were health related or time sensitive. It left me feeling sad for them. Thank you for sharing this with us all.

Thank you, Wally❤️😘Ramadan, Lent, Passover. Clean and unclean food. Alcohol is the worst and most available. The pain should be addressed. Fasting causes our body to return to the more important elements of our being, I suppose, which would cause our body’s chemistry to send clearer and more direct messages to our brains. My Grandpa always said that the hardest part of doin any job was thinking about it. I love and appreciate and cherish your kind generosity of spirit.🥰

As a Christian man we learn to fast for spiritual and mental healing. If the mind is well it can help the body heal. Your words are precious. Although I am from the
Metis people, I have no family members I am aware of who teach on these things. Thank you for such wisdom. I am always informed by your teachings.

October 1st will be 4 years of healing and sobriety for me from a spiritual malady and alcoholism. Wally has helped me tremendously on my journey and brings me great hope and love by sharing a well worn and wonderful path to follow. 🦋

Thank you for saying. I have just recently started fasting because I feel that some of us are eating too much and becoming sick.
Though I am eating once a day, not really what you are teaching here, I have found that I am becoming mindful of what I do eat. I will eventually try a long fast.
