How To: Install Trucks on a Drop Thru with Scott Lembach | MuirSkate Longboard Shop

MuirSkate brings you another installment of the "How To" series with Scott Lembach, where he shows you how to Install your trucks on a drop through deck.

Installation instructions:

First, take your riser and align it with the mounting holes on the deck. Drop in and align the baseplate with the riser.

Next drop in the bolts. Place a number 10 washer in-between the deck and nut for each bolt, this helps protect the board from stress fractures. After doing so, tighten down your bolts.

Moving onto installing the hanger, flip the board over so the graphic is facing upwards. Slide the large cup washer onto the kingpin followed by the barrel bushing. Then insert the hanger's pivot into the baseplate's pivot cup and drop the hanger down until it makes contact with the bushing underneath.

Finally we add the cone bushing and small cup washer follwed by the kingpin nut. Tighten the nut down until there isn't any play between your bushings and hanger, and you're all set!

Is it okay to put the trucks on the bottom of a drop through deck? So its like a normal board but got the hole on the top

I notice you installed the trucks right around the middle of the hole, is it okay to move them more towards the center of the board and if not, why?

Is it okay to not have risers? I see how they can make a difference especially to protect the board from pressure. But I skate without them.

I should've watched this video before putting my trucks on my board. I was a fob because I gripped my drop through and didn't add a shock riser so my baseplate got destroyed ( really scratched ) and I didn't even add washers...

So only 4 nuts support the weight of the rider. Aren't the nuts after long use start eating the wood away? Aren't there any metal pads that can be used on the bottom? I feel that having only the nuts with small washers taking all the weight will damage the board.

Seems like they'd get in the way of foot placement...

Do the shock pads have to be right under the base plate on the top of the deck? I've seen shock pads underneath the board instead of washers so that the board is higher instead of lower.
