Bernie ran in the Democratic primary in 2016 not as an independent. He knew that if you run as independent you couldn't win.

The USA doesn't have a two party system. We have a one party system with two factions.

Bernie scared the party, because change is scary.

They found out, but didn't realize it was related to having fucked around 'cause they don't pay attention to us.

Left populism is destroying capitalism, which is what we need to do. Right populism already tried and failed

He’s absolutely right that when the populace is struggling, people go towards extreme populism. Before FDR came into power, communism was popular in the US and fascism was on the rise. Because the Great Depression and dust bowl were happening and people were totally desperate. FDR and the Democratic Party saved us from communism and fascism by implementing progressive policies. This is why progressive policies are so important. Right wingers fear a communist takeover, yet are also creating the conditions that would make a communist takeover a possibility. You have to meet the people halfway or they go towards extremism

Anyone interviewed in this short would make a better president than Biden or Trump.

The dems giving up on Bernie (and progressives in general) was the biggest mistake they’ve made in a very long time

rolling over for clinton sure didn't help

In my country, which has multiple different parties you can choose from. The democrats would be placed on the right side with the libertarian-party and the republicans can’t be represented by any current party as they are so far right we don’t even have an equivalent.

Why americans can’t realise that they can only vote for right or right-right while disregarding, what would be a majority of my countries voting population.

it’s not necessarily even a political thing with both parties here in the states

both parties act in the interest of the upper class. they do it in marginally different ways, with different messaging, but they both end up with the same result:

wealthy americans retain and increase their wealth, the middle class is disappearing, and the lower class grows

They are a pretend middle class support party. I’m a sheet metal worker and welder….they lost me.

I'm sympathetic to the tough situations a lot of people are in, but the white working class abandoned the Dems first - in 1972. The predominantly white, predominantly male unions forced the Dems to choose them or equality, and the Dems chose equality.

The whole reason Nixon did the War on Drugs was to break up the Left, but in order to do that he needed the unions on his side. They sided with him at the time!

And really, it goes back to 1968. We tell ourselves that Nixon won because he promised to end the Vietnam War, but the vast majority of Americans supported the Vietnam War in 1968. Public opinion wouldn't shift against the war for years. Nixon's presidency was a backlash against the Civil Rights Movement.

You shouldn’t be able to pay your way to the top and become president bc you can “campaign more” I’m hoping an act of free media— a new wave of internet media— devoid of billionaires and millions of dollars will kill that in our country. It is not democracy.
