I bailed as a lefty about a decade ago. Identity issues just too much, and the approach that if I am not actively supporting your obscure cause makes me the enemy has pushed me out. Party leadership is not letting constituents decide, since 2016 they have very much told the rest who is going to be the candidate and how we are to think. The 2020 Democratic Debates featured a stage filled with capable, brilliant folks that had the potential to be great leaders, and the worst 2 became President and Vice-President. Unless Dems understand they get full credit for this crushing defeat, they are doomed.

Many of us in the Democratic Party feel like and have felt like this woman for YEARS. Too much emphasis on social justice, no emphasis on the traditional working class people that for DECADES voted for democratic presidents. People feel left behind and they’re tired of the smarty pants attitude that Democrats in Washington have been pushing on them for nearly 20 years. It’s time to simplify the message and start talking to people who feel left behind. That’s how we win. Not with tacky campaign slogans and living in an echo chamber. This type of defeat is what gave rise to Bill Clinton sweeping the south in ‘92 and ‘96.
