Im actually Cuban, my parents fled from there in ‘69 with my 4 older brothers, allowing me to be born in NJ 😂 ….later joined the Marine Corps and now proud to work to defend our beloved America. We have wholeheartedly loved the nation 🇺🇸that was gracious enough to adopt us and embrace us when it did not have to.
Yeah, maybe I got picked on at school but anything is better than your parents disappearing and getting tortured and shot because they said the wrong thing.

7:15 I was a male preschool teacher and director for 15 years. I had kids puled out of my classroom, too. But, I didn't whine about it. I had other kids who stayed, and I focused on them. I focused on what I had control over, not what I didn't. Secret for everyone... If you are going against the norm, you will face adversity. And another secret... It's actually good for you to face adversity. It reveals amazing things to you if you're mature enough to pay attention.

The floor doc in the brain trauma unit after I had brain surgery had been a neurologist in Cuba. He escaped, came to US with his family, worked as a janitor while learning English and redoing all his schooling. He was amazing and I loved talking with him.
Yes, his daughter (apparently a teenager) must have hated it. He told me he would tell her to enjoy having the ability to choose her path, since he had done all of this. I can't imagine the pressure to "enjoy the freedom" she had!
