Like many others, you may find the thought of handing back your lease car to be stress inducing. In particular, worrying about how much you'll be charged once the assessor has had a look over your car for damage. But, what exactly qualifies as damage?

In this video, John walks you around his Audi S5 to demonstrate the difference between fair wear and tear, and damage, as stated in the BVRLA guide. You will hopefully be pleasantly surprised!

Every time I’ve handed a lease car back it’s been clean enough to put straight on to the showroom forecourt. I can’t help it 😫. Your car is clean in normal car terms. One delivery/collection driver remarked that some cars he’s collected have been so filthy he hadn’t wanted to drive them. Wheels are very flexible, when I’ve thought I’d be charged for curb rash & scrapes I haven’t. Good video.

When lex took my immaculate car back they charged me £171 .damage but i am old so the perfect target to be ripped off here is another company experience ....We used them for our work fleet years ago and they tried in on a few times, we refused to pay and they just waived the charges. We then moved to Arval for the work fleet who were always fair.

Thanks for the video. I have my first lease car atm so good to have some understanding of what is and isn’t chargeable when I hand it back in a few years time :)

Ignore the haters. I'd always lease a car. The hassle with unreliability of used cars over the years have caused too much stress.

I've just had my end of lease inspection and it pretty much reflects the experience in this video.

My car did have marks, a scuff on the alloy (about 10cm long) and a scuff to the plastic trim on the bumper. It wasn't perfect there are little marks here and there, It got a wash and vac with its 3 year service and MOT about a week ago, I didn't do anything other than that to prep it and despite the items above there were no additional charges. It was the end of my first lease and it was really straightforward, all done and dusted in 30 mins.

No charges was the accesser blind, for a 2 year old motor it's a crap condition

That's just sheer laziness and neglect of a nice car...your kids obviously have no respect for nice things....suppose it's just the modern way nowadays.

What!? There’s no excuse for treating your car like that. Funnily enough, I have a 67 plate S5 Sportback aswell, and I would NEVER, ever, ever treat my car like that.
I have 3 kids, that’s no excuse... I look after my things.
Then again, I buy my cars, so maybe if you actually work for something then you have more respect for it... rather than renting a car you can’t afford 🤷🏻‍♂️

Good thing I bought my car outright. Criminals keyed the entire right side of my car and an idiot Mercedes driver rear ended me. I assume an assesser would charge me hundreds for both.

This is why dealers get shit cars. People have no common decency for property not even their own. I have a 2013 Kia in better nic

Every time I’ve handed a lease back they’ve tried to fleece the crap outta me with charges. My current lease ends in 6 months and I’ve already decided same shits gunna happen so am just buying a car

A lot of haters on here, it’s okay being a single guy and keeping your car in immaculate condition; throw work, kids & dogs into the mix and it’s a different story.

Thank you so much! I’ve been getting myself in a state over worrying about the car - no accidents, but three very young grandchildren being ferried about hasn’t left it in ‘mint’ condition. I feel much better now.
